Not everyone in Hollywood loves Hillary. During an appearance Monday night on NBCs Tonight Show with Jay Leno, actor Freddie Prinze Jr. promised Im not voting for Hillary Clinton because Im a Republican!
Prinzes comments came as fellow guest Bill OReilly of the Fox News Channel and Leno raised a potential presidential bid by Senator Clinton.
MRC analyst Patrick Gregory tracked down the exchange which occurred on the May 20 Tonight Show. Prinze was a guest to promote the new Scooby Doo movie in which he stars.
OReilly on Senator Clinton: I think shes got a constituency among unions, among minorities, and, because thats whos going to get the money that she takes from you, and I, and Freddie.
Freddie Prinze, Jr.: [unintelligible] take my money, wait a minute!
OReilly: Freddie, trust me, shes taking your money.
Prinze: Im not voting for Hillary Clinton!
OReilly: Shes coming to your house, gonna take your wallet right out of there-
Prinze: Im a Republican!

Not only have I never seen any of his movies, Ive never even heard of most of them. I guess all the big stars are with Hillary.
Not if it were up to the hysterical lesbians who are furious that they killed off the gay character Tara. Reading some of the Buffy boards lately is like watching a theatrical production of Stephen King's Misery, with Buffy creator Joss Whedon as "Mr. Man."
:-)
Tom was a short guy, going through a mid-life crisis, who dumped an intelligent woman for a bimbo who didn't realize how dumb Penelope Cruz-Cruise would sound.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you made that statement in jest.
Surely you don't subscribe to the notion that a person's political attitudes are determined by his or her degree of dependence on the nanny state.
I happen to know a number of government employees who would fall into the conservative camp, at least on matters that don't have an effect on their income and benefits.
Actors, artists, writers, musicians, and just about everybody involved in broadcast journalism -- from the networks on down to your local traffic reporter -- are overwhelmingly to left of center politically, but that's old news. The "Hollywood Ten" were only the tip of the iceberg; the Communists had to establish a number of fronts to handle all the would-be members of the CPUSA in the '30s and '40s, such was the degree of activism among movie people.
Whether we like it or not, conservatism in not exactly a family value in Hollywood.
I'm only suggesting that actors achieve stardom and financial success on their ability (with paid professional help) to act.
The well-known liberals in Hollywood such as B.S. and R.R. (whoops, that's Robert Redford, not the other one!) don't need to fake it. They say what they really believe, as stupid as it usually is.
When you hear that some actor is "a Republican," do you break into applause? The way certain segments of society cheer when some two-bit talk-show celebrity comes out of the closet?
Meaning no disrespect to the subject of this thread, who I admit I have never heard of, is it not possible that a good part of Hollywood political pronouncements is done with a view toward boosting the person's career, as opposed to boosting the political party he's affiliated with?
It's the path of least resistance, which is why so many in the arts, academia and other "intellectual" persuasions get sucked in.
Which is why I don't get very excited when someone like Freddie Prinze Jr. professes to be a Republican.
Big deal.
It's not going to draw me into the movie theater to see Scoobie Doo, any more than Turner Broadcasting's (now canceled) production of Atlas Shrugged would make me want to watch CNN.
Random anomalies in a sea of slime.
No, of course not. I also don't assume that all actors, musicians and artists are total idiot mouth-breathers, either. There are quite a few here at FR.
Truer words were never posted on FR.
And, being closer to B'way than Hollywood Blvd., would you say the "life experiences" of aspiring actors and actresses in Neu Yawk City are representative of the genre?
A make-believe world to be sure, dominated by state-subsidized, Equity-regulated, tourist-supported "theatre" whose topics and lines are unfit for the ears of anyone under 18 or over 40.
IIRC, the former mayor's former wife had a role in one of those productions. You recall?
Yeah, we won't be able to count all the conservatives that sprout from that life experience.
Other celebrities who are either identified as Republicans or have displayed sharp conservative leanings are Charlton Heston, Arnold Schwartzeneggar, Mel Gibson, Bo Derek, Charlie Daniels, and Ted Nuggent.
What??? At his OT level, shouldn't he be able to "postulate" sperm?
