It's a matter of being an actor who happens to be a Republican versus the current state of affairs-- liberals who happen to be actors. Many celebrities get where they are with a lift from their good looks-- but they usually work hard to get where they are (living in cramped apartments in NYC with several others, etc.). I'm actually surprised more celebrities aren't conservative-- no government program ever made these people stars.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you made that statement in jest.

Surely you don't subscribe to the notion that a person's political attitudes are determined by his or her degree of dependence on the nanny state.

I happen to know a number of government employees who would fall into the conservative camp, at least on matters that don't have an effect on their income and benefits.

Actors, artists, writers, musicians, and just about everybody involved in broadcast journalism -- from the networks on down to your local traffic reporter -- are overwhelmingly to left of center politically, but that's old news. The "Hollywood Ten" were only the tip of the iceberg; the Communists had to establish a number of fronts to handle all the would-be members of the CPUSA in the '30s and '40s, such was the degree of activism among movie people.

Whether we like it or not, conservatism in not exactly a family value in Hollywood.
