What do the Democrats know, and why do they fear it?

Posted on 05/17/2002 10:20:19 PM PDT by McB.

Here’s my take on the democrats’ strategy to hammer away with “what did the President know, and when did he know it.”

The democrats know that taking such a critical stance against a popular president is risky, however they are faced with a two far more dangerous threats.

The democrats are bleeding potential voters in several critical segments; Women, Hispanics, Labor (male voters). One way to stop the bleeding is to tempt the republicans to dredge up Clinton failures in regard to Osama bin Laden. This will force voters to take a side not unlike the 2000 election. Hence, 50/50.

Dick Cheney will not run in 2004 due to health. President Bush is likely to pick Condoleezza Rice as he running mate and that ticket would further endanger the democrats' “safe” voter segments. This investigation will not touch Bush, however, the National Security Council’s Advisor; Condoleezza Rice will be the main target.

Today the President said:

“You know, what's interesting about Washington, it's a town -- unfortunately, it's the kind of place where second-guessing has become second-nature. The American people know this about me, and my national security team, and my administration: Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to kill on that fateful morning, I would have done everything in my power to protect the American people. We will use the might of America to protect the American people.”

This President knows she’s the target.

I had similar thoughts. Hitlery and company are terrified of Condi Rice and her appeal to African Americans - especially - pulling them away from the Demorat "homebase."

But, the Rats are also after President Bush - make no mistake about it. They will fail but that will not stop them from trying.

I do hear a lot of demands for Condi Rice to resign or for President Bush to fire her on talk radio. These same people didn't mind that Clinton did nothing however about the terrorist attacks when he was in office.

Honestly, I wondered to myself why Condi looked so flustered during the press conference she gave Thursday.

With what you are saying...I can understand.

I really wouldnt be surprised if Hitlarry is doing absolutely everything she can behind the scenes to knock Dr. Rice down.

Condi Rice is the Anti-Hitlarry and the Libs know it.

Hillary is not running in 04. She's just keeping people guessing to increase her fund-rising ability.

The Dems know that Clinton knew of the possibility of a hijacking terrorist attack as far back as 1994 and didn't take any substantial action to protect our country. They fear that someone is connecting the dots- so they came out with the first strike. The focus is on President Bush. No one in the media is asking what Clinton knew. I fear that the democrats are masters of spin, and that they will have success in their deception. If nothing else, Clinton's culpability will be a mute point once they convince the majority of people that Bush is to blame too.

They should really be asking why Miss Cleo didn't warn us about this.

I really think the worst thing republicans could do right now is to get down with the democrats over what Clinton did...again.

President Bush must show the country (before November of this year) that the we have moved on. Clinton is history, and a small chapter at that.

I believe Bush has been trying very hard to move on from Clinton- but I feel like this is getting very nasty, and I fear the fallout. Maybe I'm just feeling paranoid tonight. The Clintons were very successful in their spin job during the impeachment. This is starting to feel a lot the same to me.

Alan Keyes targetted Condi , on his thurdays show. I thought that that was pecular and a low blow. Now, I am in full accord with your supposition.

Condi, as V.P. in 2004 places her in direct line, to run in 2008. Guess who is crouching in the wings, waiting to run in 2008 ? HILLARY ! Hitlery running against Condi , is an utter, complete , and demoralizing disaster for HITLERY and the Dems. Think about this... I don't believe that I have to spell out why this is so. LOL

I agree completely. The democrats will never change. The question is, will the republicans play.

I agree. Condi was really rattled today. Her voice quavered. Bush has signaled he will stand by her.

While Condi has appeal, I disagree that she will automatically be a vote getter in the obvious demographics. She is an intense and brilliant woman and this frightens people on a visceral level that goes beyond the accomplishments. I think the photo op of her playing the piano was an attempt to humanize her and I think it worked, but there is more to be done.

However, I think that the onus for 911 is going to fall squarely on the people who made it law that the FBI and CIA could not share information. And we know who they are. First, the blame will fall on Freeh, but it will go on from there.

Monsoor Ibaz (sp?) will be demonized, if at all possible. I watched Rangel size him up and attempt to take him out on Hannity and the Idiot tonight. Sean handled that well and the byplay showed that Rangel and Sean knew precisely what they were doing. Rangel even told Idiot to be quiet, that Monsoor was "the first guy who made any sense" (paraphrase)

The Dems/media forget that we are no longer a nation that is fed the same propaganda each night via the broadcast nets/CNN, et al. We have the Net and access to many press articles, the ability to search for archived information and the ability to search out bio info on the writers. We network via this forum and various listserves. We have FNC. Even Rush did his part by having Cheney on.

I heard a lot of Kabuki-dancing backpedalling today, as the Dems began the shift in blame towards the intel agencies. As the need to fill time on cable news forces analysis of this story, the reasons for the intel disconnect (1960's activists and fellow travelers post-Watergate), attention will be turned to Hillary & friends.

I think this is going to sizzle, then backfire, before it fizzles. And I think the average voter will not be swayed. The rabid Dems have been pushing this line for months and I have not met one person who fell for it. In fact, people I have spoken with have commented that the ideologues pushing this are insane. It defies commons sense and Americans put a lot of store in common sense.

I agree, you have it 100 % correct !

I watched Hannity and the idiot too, and Charlie didn't quite know which direction he was going in. Sean has had Mansoor ( sp ? ) on his radio show several times. He likes him and wants to get this info out there. Sean can be like a dog with a bone, and won't allow this one to drop. The Dems are in for quite a backlash.
