I have the ultimate republican idea............

I have the ultimate election year issue that would have the democrats absolutely running terrified and its and issue the resignates with everyone that has children like prescription drugs does with the elderly......... tuition costs at universities (they never seem to go down...) perhaps we have another enron here? I would love a congressional inquiry into price gouging at colleges I know Rush was talking about education or something like Harvard costing 25,000 a semester has that ever gone down?? This I think would resignate with everyone who has kids, and with most college professors being part of that beloved teachers union base of the party what a shot across the bow, taking on the colleges so kids can get an affordable education..... So what does everyone think???

I'm resigned to the fact that spelling doesn't resonate with some people.

Good idea, but you must not have gotten much education because this doesn't "resignate", the word you're looking for is resonate.

The reason, and the only reason that RX and college costs are going thru the roof is simply cause somebody will pay it.RX prices started to explode unions and others started to include RX`s in insurance plans. Same with higher education, when the Feds came up with Pell grants and college loans, tuition cost sky rocketed. Lesson for today---NOTHING IS FREE--

Sadly, I don't think colleges specialize in "education". It's strictly a teacher/government worker factory. It isn't the cost of education that is appalling. It's the value of it.

My Alma Mater has had a budget reduction from the State due to the economic slowdown. In response the school has increased fees to students, reduced the budget for all departments except one.....the athletic department which has a budget increase.
Library fines don't go to the library, they go to the athletic department. School bookstore profits go to the athletic department.
I like college football a great deal but there is something wrong here.
But if you imagine that straightening this out would be popular you are most likely wrong unfortunately.

I think we need NEW Republican leaders with the GUTS to run on CONSERVATIVE issues.
This means no Moderates, no RINOs, or "compASSionate conservatives."
They need to be unabashed and unapologetic in their actions, and not be afraid to FIGHT for the Constitution.
They need media skills and savvy, and the courage to use the "bully pulpit" to beat their opponents into submission.
Something like "The New Contract With America" wouldn't hurt, either.

As soon as you shut down the handouts from the gubmint, put matters back into the hands of the people, the inflated prices on all goods and services will drop. It's "resonate", BTW. Blackbird.

Amen to everything you said...looks like you're using the FR 'bully pulpit' quite effectively yourself, my friend!

I do not think the issue would fly. I am of the opinion that college is pushed to too many people, and that there are those in college that have no business being there (anyone who has seen my undergrad grades would put me in this category).
I disagree that everyone should be able to go to college, and I think we do a huge disservice by not promoting trades and other career paths (military) out of high school. The good Lord knows a good mechanic, plumber, etc. is worth his weight in gold.
And I would further argue that this is one reason college costs are so high; too many idiots make it more expensive for everyone. Simple application of the law of demand.

I pay $11 a unit. Anyone willing to help out, can send me a donation.

My God! We agree for once 100%!!!
College tuitions are an abomination. Just say NO!

I guess this resonated with alot of people lol now I know how bush feels.

Harvard costing 25,000 a semester has that ever gone down... I don't really have that much trouble with a private university charging whatever the market will bear. On the other hand, I live in a town where the public school system costs 20,000 per student per year. And that money is extracted from me and my neighbors by force, whether we like it or not.
You say we can vote on the budget?... Think again....
Please see this link for how bad public schools can be.
