Very important...is the ban for corn or flour tortillas? If it is corn, then white or yellow?

Actually, it could be a lot worse:

The Detroit Red Wings' most eagerly anticipated tradition is throwing of an octopus on the ice during the playoffs. The bizarre fan ritual began back when only four NHL teams made the playoffs, and the eight legs symbolized the eight wins needed to win the Stanley Cup. Attendants are booed if they use a shovel to remove the octopus and cheered if they use their bare hands.

using food bank boxes to play on their guilt.

More of the ol mental conditioning so commonly used on the students. The Tortillias are creating starvation throughout the world.
Waisting food? Hey, how about the wasted tax dollars by the school? Hello? A little hypocritical, aren't they? How many people would those tax dollars feed? Huh?

Does this mean that throwing rice at a wedding is insensitive to the Chinese?

And, man, if throwing tortillas is insensitive, just imagine what hatemongering it must be to eat them...

Maybe they could toss rocks instead.
Every country has rocks.
There, problem solved.

OK. Then I call upon my fellow Jews to fill this cultural void by frisbee-tossing matzos. A good matzos tosser can make 150 feet (no wind conditions; your results can vary; be sure to use closed course and eye protection).

I actually had a very small part in the birth of this tradition.

UA president Peter Lykins is urging students not to bring the discs to fling into the air at Saturday's ceremonies because it's a waste of food and culturally insensitve to some people.

Another spinless WHITE liberal flack-catcher.

Geez! I wish I'd thought of this. When I went through my Master's graduation in San Jose in '96, the guest speaker was some Hispanic pol/activist on crutches, last name Gil-Osorio, who spent nearly an hour whoring for votes for Bill Clinton. The whole speech was political, and totally inappropriate for a graduation. I was embarassed to have dragged my folks there to listen to this crap. A few frisbee tortillas would have been perfect. LOL!

This reminds me of a story I heard when I lived in Texas. A friend told me the story of a student rally where a government official (I think it was the governor) was speaking. The crowd of students was yelling 'Free Lee Otis'. So the official leans down from the speaker's podium and asked an associate 'Why are they yelling for frijoles?' which is a mexican style dish.

Well this is a school so it will have to be a public strip search. Tortilla tossing a bigger worry than someone wearing thong panties because it's done out in the open. They could put that vice principal from Rancho Bernardo near San Diego in charge of the process.

Instead of throwing tortillas, they should throw something inedible, like rice cakes. Afterwards, any rice cakes that didn't get crushed by being stepped on could be rounded up and recycled to be used as drink coasters for frat party keggers (I know, frat boys don't use coasters). The ones that do get crushed could be recycled by the local Mailboxes Etc., to be used for packing material.

Tortillas are much too versatile a food to be wasted in such a manner.
