Yes, ... it's permanent. So, women have a choice, either a non-incisive proceedure, or an incisive (ie. invasive) procedure. Men have only the incisive proceedure, we don't have an option.

"The Essure micro-insert is designed to cause a permanent blockage in the Fallopian tube so that sperm cannot reach the egg."

That's from the website. It's meant to be permanent. Sure wish it had been available when I had my tubal ligation.

That's true, but the invasive procedure for the male takes about the same amount of time, anesthesia, and recovery as the non-invasive procedure for the female.

They've had one day permanent birth control procedures for decades - it's called a vasectomy. Minimal discomfort, minimal side effects, and for the really really brave...reversable!

So come on guys, let's bite the bullet and quit making birth control a woman's responsibility

Somebody has some major issues about his Johnson...your home page and this look more like problems with power than real medical advice. Enjoy your free swimmers - but be responsible with the horde.

Sounds like a disaster in the making. I can picture the lawsuits in about ten, fifteen years.
Argh.

This sounds lovely - little metal springs shoved up into your Fallopian tubes. I bet those little dinguses just stay there right where they're told - and I bet they have no side effects, either - no adhesions, no cramping, no perforation of the tube, no ectopic pregnancies. Uh, huh.

How about this instead? No side effects, no gynecological complications, highly effective.

Any woman who has this procedure, probably will be notified of the "risks" and side-effects-- the company and doctors and PP will use that to shield themselves from lawsuits, except for the few who will undergo this procedure accidently.

The IUD was another nightmare for women...and babies. The heavy menses and cramping from that were just one horror...imagine if you will, the horror experiencing with the 'springs'. ugh. I fear this will have severe repercussions in the future.

I don't agree with the population-control focus of this article, but even the radical feminists seem to realize the dangers of IUDs.
