Bikinis are off-limits here Associated Press
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - The fundamentalist Muslim government in a Malaysian state will ban women from wearing bikinis and from sharing swimming pools with men, a news report said Saturday. Hotels in the eastern state of Terengganu have been directed to build separate swimming pools for men and women, the Star newspaper quoted state tourism minister Wan Hassan Mohamad Ramli as saying. "We decided, in the interest of Muslims, to separate the two sexes when it comes to swimming pools," the paper quoted Wan Hassan as saying. The Pan-Malaysian Islamic party, Malaysia's main opposition group, was swept into power in Terengganu in the 1999 elections and pledged to tighten Islamic laws in the oil-rich state. It has since imposed other strict rules, including the separation of men and women lining up at cash registers in supermarkets. Wan Hassan also said a dress code would be imposed at holiday resorts, barring bikinis and ordering women to dress "in accordance with local cultural norms." He did not elaborate or say when the new dress code would be imposed.

Another way to keep vacationing Westerners out of their country. The new pool rules should be a big hit with the burqa crowd (darn things weigh a ton when wet, though).

Another thought. Does this also mean there will be no Sports Illustrated swimsuit photo shoots there anytime soon ?

What are they afraid of, someone squezzing the Carmin a bit to much.

No, it's just that the men were tired of getting in line behind a woman with 400 coupons and writing a check with no ID.

I just made some remark the other day about going to the beach to gawk at the babes and they'd all be wearing burkas if the sand monkey's took over the world.

These people are psychotic. You've got to admit: there is something very, very sick about these people. They bugger little boys and they stone their women. They don't want to LOOK at their women. Not even CLOTHED. They don't even want to be AROUND them---they'd rather be around MEN. UGHHH!!! I mean, c'mon. Think of some of the most repressed people you knew growing up. Heck---even LAWRENCE WELK kept his gals dressed up like freaking gorgeous dolls, even though covered from wrist to earlobe to ankle!! (smile)
Boy-loving is Political-correct, protected behavior now, but if this was ANYone but sand-apes or some politically correct, diverse minority, their MISOGYNY would be subject to serious scrutiny and seen for what it is---some sort of mental illness that defies normal human behavior and innate biological programming and disposition.
Where are the WOMEN'S groups on this?
Remember how CLINTOCK had given hush bucks to Ireman, Steinman and company to keep them quiet while he objectified and slapped women all over the place during his administration? Kinda makes you wonder if perhaps the A-rab oil states aren't buying 'em off too, paying a little hush money so they won't say anything about the most obvious, the most SCREAMING example of women's rights abuse in recorded history, Islamania!

We decided, in the interest of Muslims, to separate the two sexes when it comes to swimming poolsWell, at least they have that part right.
In America there are four sexes recognized. Or is it two (normal and abherrant)? Or is it three (male, female and inbetween)?
Wow, so many options, so few diseases.

Actually overseas where their customs are enforced, yes, there would be coverings. But they come over here to America and discard their requirements; at least the ones that don't require Our Citizens to give them special treatment.
Situational ethics, carved into stone by the Clinton administration.

It has since imposed other strict rules, including the separation of men and women lining up at cash registers in supermarkets. Now there's an idea who's time has come. I hate getting behind women at the supermarket or any other store. They invariably argue with the cashier about what is on sale and have the outdated flyers to prove it. They usually have one or more clinging kids to them who are constantly whining about getting a candy bar or something. Then when the sale is rung up, they appear surprised that they have to pay and then they spend the next five minutes digging through their purse for the checkbook and then when they find it, they end up asking the cashier for a pen to write it with.

protected behavior now, but if this was ANYone but sand-apes or some politically Malaysians are not Arabs, and Malaysia is not a desert country. I agree that these people are nuts and the subject of much liberal posterior-osculating, but it's their religion that's the problem, not their ethnicity. There are not a few Arab Christians, remember.
