A+Bert??
A+Bert could be a nasty ol' curmudgeon, but I got along with him nonetheless. In the end, it seemed like he almost wanted to be banned...sorta like gettin' thrown in the pokey to force you to overcome an addiction.

ROFL!!
"Ash"
He got banned, then it was
"ASHisALIVE"
Anyone else remember this? We are talking 1998 or 1999 here.
Thanks, however, the freepmail thing hasn't worked...here is what I posted to a different thread right before it was deleted about an hour ago...

Perhaps someone will be kind enough to explain why I was banned from FreeRepublic.
I tried to sign in last evening and could not gain access. When I checked my profile I noted that there was "no current Freeper by that name." The curious thing is that I didn't violate any of the posting guidelines. I did, of course, challenge the wisdom of settling the FR v. WP/LAT lawsuit (HERE). However, I fail to see where that would warrant a banning/caning/ or whatever...
I sent an email to Jim Robinson...No response. I sent a private Freepmail to him....No response. So, I opted to come back into the forum under a different name (which I know is a violation of posting guidelines). Of course, that is the only way I could forward a Freepmail...since I was banned.
My point is this:
I did nothing to suggest that I deserved to be deleted/banned/caned/ directed to the "comfy chair." I had been a registered member of FR since August 2000. I had contributed many a thread and comment to the forum that "I thought" added to the honesty and knowledge of the masses. Hell, I, personally, donated over $300 worth of name tags to the Inuagural Ball (not to mention the labor and equipment to print them all) Yet...POOF. Alienating individuals in this fashion is subject to inquiry. Failure to answer the call of that inquiry is a mistake...an enormous mistake.
Cordially,
JoeEveryman

Free Republic has a band?
A+Bert celebrates 75th Birthday- Not a Vanity
The reason I am posting my birthday as news is that I feel I owe it to Mr Robinson to express my thanks for providing one of the best opportunities that has ever existed for people to exercise their legitimate right to Free Speech.Mr. Robinson my 75 years has taught me to recognize class. Sir! You have it.
I'm signing off for the evening and just wanted to express the feelings of a 75 year young person for all the privileges that FR has given me.1 Posted on 08/16/2001 19:58:07 PDT by A+Bert
