USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

Thanks Tonk for the continued bumps! I just wish he would be a little bit more quiet with his bumps. I've been over in the corner trying to sleep it off
that spiked punch did a number on me.
Let me know when the Shore Patrol leaves.

In Honor of those who gave their lives and those who were gravely disabled. Thank You Brothers and Sisters for your sacrifices.-- Thank you as I am 5% "disabled" from service related injury... The VA says I am fit for duty, so do the MEPS, everyone except at HQ Arlington Surgeon General. :(
To: Mr_Magoo
Mr_Magoo, my father's ashes are in Arlington. Taps gets me everytime. I held it together at the funeral until they played Taps and then I lost it. I couldn't get your link to work and that's probably a good thing. I'll bow my head in silence for those who lost their lives protecting my speech, my freedom to worship God, my family and my country. Praise God and may he bless our country and watch over our military. Lord, after they have done their job, please bring them home alive and in one piece.

Thanks to you and everyone who is participating in this extra-special thread!!
My sweet, beautiful grandmother told me stories about attending USO dances and dancing with the servicemen while waiting for her own serviceman to finish his work half a world away and come home to her.
My grandparents lived the archetypal WWII love story--he was with the Army Air Corps serving as a bombadier and she worked for Pan Am in Miami. They met as he was leaving to serve overseas. They kept in touch, saw each other as much as possible, and were married on leave.
She is still as lively as can be, she weighs the same as on her wedding day (after six children) and still cannot be caught without high heeels on (she's only 5'2"). My 6'5" grandfather looked so young and so handsome in his uniform and was the foundation of our family until the day cancer took him from us eleven years ago. He never got to meet any of his 10-and-counting great-grandchildren, but mine was the last wedding he attended.
Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful tradition back to us today. You are such a great group!! A big THANK YOU and my deepest respect to all who have served, are currently serving, or will serve!! (((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) GG

Wonderful, but then I have to be sure to catch Tonk for a twirl as well, if I can tear him away from all his admirers!
