[history]
Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, searching for the right words to express his disappointment that Congress hasn't raised fuel-efficiency standards for vehicles sold in the United States in the last 15 years, stumbled into the wrong words.
"It's unacceptable that we haven't changed fleet mileage averages in 15 years in this country. How many times have we gone to the moon in the last 15 years?" Mr. Daschle wondered to reporters at a briefing yesterday.

Could you imagine if 'W' made statements like that?
Front page of NYT's and Wash. Post:
"Bush out of touch", "W living in the past". Laughter, derision.
But like Algore before him, he can make any insane statment he likes and it is just business as usual.
CFR? What a bloody joke...

It couldn't be that Daschle's a total clueless idiot, could it? Total clueless idiots don't get elected to the Senate, right?

"You know, we've developed the computer and the Internet in the last 15 years," he said. First, the home computer was introduced in crude versions 25 yeas ago, not 15. The Internet has been around longer than that.
It should also be noted that we would not have computers as powerful as they are now if congress would have forced the PC industry to make their comuters more "energy efficient" every 4 or 5 years.
