I Want My M60 Back!
Freerepublic.com | 4/9/2002 | Patton

Posted on 04/09/2002 8:03:39 PM PDT by patton

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am annoyed. I humped/drug/carried an M-60 machine gun through the woods of North Carolina, Alaska, Panama, Georgia, and - well, you name it.

It weighed 23.6 pounds (a number ingrained in my anatomy), plus 7 pounds/hundred rounds of ammo.

I often went without food, in order to carry more ammo. So did my crew - we could live on short rations, but not short on ammo.

Why, exactly, am I less trustworthy as a civilian to fire this pig?

What have we lost, in the way of freedom, while I wasted my time defending it?

"Machine Gun Rentals start at $20-$25 for 30 rounds depending upon which weapon and renter vender you choose. "

Now, I was a weapons instructor for years, and as such, got stuck with the "expired ammo- burn it up" detail. To the tune of 10,000 rds/day.

So I should pay more than 100,000 for a $50 gun, and about $1/round for ammo the army can't give away?

My time spent defending this country was wasted.

Nasty response, that, and - in my humble opinion - completely unjustified. I vote Pro-Life first, Pro-2A second, without fail.

Thank you for playing.

Ha Ha!

You can find a good looking woman anywhere, but a good looking gun is hard to find.

"completely unjustified."

I hope it was unjustified but it sounds like you just woke up from a 30 year nap. People who don't belong to some gun organization seem to be like that. They live in their own little world until they decide they want to go out and buy a new toy and run right into gun laws that have been on the books for decades. Why are you any different from the liberals who, during the L.A. riots, found out about the three day waiting period?

So what gun organization do you belong to in order to change those laws? And please don't tell me that you sacrifice a half hour every four years out of your busy schedule to vote for someone.

Sorry, poaching of serfs and their belongings, and the means to do so, is striclty forbidden. You must be one of the king's men to hunt his lands.

But at least there's no limit once you get your badge, body armor, and agency t-shirt.

I posted on that thread. What's your point? Do you think that gun control is suddenly going to go away by some miracle? What gun organization do you belong to that will pressure the politicians to sunset the assault weapons bill in 2004?

I don't think that the NRA or anybody else will make this abuse go away - I intend to, as soon as the USSC ratifies Emerson - use the 1871 "Conspiracy to Deprive of Civil Rights Law" to haul a bunch of politicians into court.

Did you think the NRA would do such a thing?

You're right, I forgot how bad it is there and getting worse. They obviously didn't get the memo that gun control is over. Bullet Tax, indeed! If Simon doesn't win, everything that's happening there, will happen in our states in a shorter period of time than we would like.

By the way, I was first enrolled in the NRA in 1970, I think.

So what you're saying is that you don't belong to any gun organization like the NRA, GOA, SAS, RKBA, JPFO or any State Associations. Do I believe that you would use your money to get a lawyer to sue the government? No, I do not.

M-60 is a pig on three legs. The only weapon that can break while sitting in the armory. Myself I would take the 249 or a MG-34/42.

Fear the armed government that fears an armed citizen. Governments are not any more responsible with a firearm just because they are a government. We are a government of the people, so, if the people cannot be trusted, then the government cannot be trusted. I hope that logic doesn't confuse you.

You're not even part of a group that helped with Emerson for a lousy 20 dollars a year so why should I believe you would use thousands of your money to take it further?
