Viva Mexico y viva Speedy!
To: jalisco555
My wife was born and raised in Mexico. She loves Speedy, and was shocked and disgusted when I told her about the Cartoon Network's policy. I think it is the height of stupidity (the policy, not the cartoon), and should be changed. FREE SPEEDY!
To: Ancesthntr
My wife is also a native of Mexico and she thinks Speedy is hilarious.

about Pepe LePew? His chasing of unwilling females surely sends the message to children that's it's OK to stalk and attack them if they resist," he wrote in an e-mail. "Plus, because he's French, does this mean that all Frenchmen are sexual predators?" It is good to hate the french--- Al Bundy

"What about Pepe LePew?"
Isn't Pepe supposed to be a SKUNK? Don't skunks stink? Does this imply that the french stink?
And the problem with this is...?

"A few years ago, there was an outcry to put on Speed Racer," she said. "We put on Speed Racer and it did terribly." One of the all time worst cartoons.
To: jalisco555
It's not possible for anything to suck as bad as Speed Racer. It makes Crusader Rabbit look like FANTASIA.

I should have added Speedy's cousin - Slowpoke Rodreguez. He's more of a Freeper. He might be the slowest mouse in Mexico...but he has the firepower.
To: Deb
Crusader Rabbit look like FANTASIA. I have very fond childhood memories of Crusader Rabbit. Of course, I wasn't terribly discerning at five years old.
To: jalisco555
so... this mouse, does he like cheese?
Seriously though, how sad is it to see a "high-profile lobby" coming out to advocate the return of a cartoon? Doesn't The League of United Latin American Citizens have anything better to do?

Same here. Then one day I saw a real cartoon and my life changed forever. But I still think fondly of Rags the Tiger.

It's still harder to find Speedy Gonzales on the Cartoon Network than Elmer Fudd...Elmer Fudd?!? You mean that shotgun wielding, rabbit-hating, NRA loving, Bush-voting, goose-stepping socio/psycho-pathic animal killer? They still show him on TV?!? I'm getting faint...

I'm sure y'all followed this crappola bounce from one subject to another -- be it the Taco Bell pooch, Speedy Gonzales, to god knows what else
Mexican.
You'd have to agree it's long past
absurd?
Since y'all are so learned?
I ask you...
Why is it the local, highly successful & very profitable Mexican-American owned & operated Mexican Resturants around here?
Have nothing but multitudinous caricatures of Mexicans all over their establishments -- including the menues?
Think those businessmen might be trying to get the customer in the mood for some Mexican food??
~ole'!!~
Seems *someone* wants it both ways, huh?

League of United Latin American Citizens An organization, BTW, that DOES NOT have a chapter in Miami, the most "Latin American" metro area in the nation.

Doesn't The League of United Latin American Citizens have anything better to do? Most likely, but I'd rather have them spin their wheels on this fight for about 3 or 4 years.
