I am afraid this post is a bit "illegal" in terms of what is allowed here, but I hope it survives.
My history porf makes repeated reference to a CNN report which he claims to have seen which stated that Muslums in the NYC area were warned to stay away from the WTC on 9-11.
Is this true? Are there other reliable reports out there on this? Or is it an Urban Legand?
If so, I would like this thread to be a clearing house of links to these scources so that I (and others) may verify the truth/falsehood of these reports.
Thank you for your patience and in advance for your contributions.

I don't know, but my friends personally saw muslims celebrate on coney island ave, and on neptune ave in brooklyn. And apparently one the celebrants in Queens got shot for being too happy that day.

There was a thread here about an Islamic calendar, published well before 9/11, which had--for the month of September--a painting of a commercial airliner plunging into New York harbor.

Sounds like a twist in the urban legend regarding 3000 Jews (or Israli immigrants) calling in "sick" on that day. I wouldn't believe it.

I have no direct knowledge of this but I would bet five dollars against a stale doughnut that it is true, for the simple reason that there were warnings about this posted on the internet well before September 11. I read them and others read them. If it was posted on the internet then certainly a lot of Muslims must have known in advance.

I thought the bizarre stories in the arab press of the Mossad carrying out the WTC attacks and warning jews to stay home were very offensive.
I see no reason that these rumors about moslems should be any less offensive.

Nope, it was the jews that stayed away. The terrorist act was a plot by Mossad to implicate peace loving Muslims. :-)

I have seen this story in several different forms and from several different sources. Even Michael Medved related a "true account" of a variation on his radio program. Having heard the theme and variations so many times I am beginning to think it is an "urban legend" but would love to see some concrete evidence.

Urban LEGEND! See "Rumours of War on
this website. It is also an URBAN LEGEND that some woman was seen celebrating in a 7-11, witnessed by some delivery guy. Unfortunatly, many Freepers believe such BS to be fact.

They didn't tell some of the hijackers that they were on a suicide mission. Seems unlikely they would tell others.

I remember reading about concrete evidence reported several times, in that NYC high school students who are Muslim made specific and pointed references to something that would happen, and a teacher then reported to police what they said after 9-11. I don't recall what happened next, but I remember this was but one of many stories like that. It was apparent that some people knew not to go downtown on the morning of 9-11.

Be careful with Snopes. They "debunked" the Hillary Clinton/Black Panther story and they got it wrong. On purpose I suspect.
