CRC 'shocked' by explosives in Palestinian ambulanceBy Judy Siegel

JERUSALEM (March 31) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said at the weekend it was "shocked and dismayed" that explosives were hidden by Palestinians in a Palestine Red Crescent Society's (PRCS) ambulance.

The ICRC said it "condemns such abuse of an ambulance and of the Red Crescent emblem" and called for Palestinian "respect of the ambulances' medical mission."

After the Israeli authorities reported the discovery of explosives in the ambulance, with a child lying on top of them, ICRC delegates made immediate contact with the Israeli authorities and the PRCS and went to the site near Ramallah where the ambulance was stopped.

"There they observed how a device was taken out from the vehicle and detonated in the presence of a number of onlookers," the ICRC said. "Until a full investigation has been made, the ICRC is not in a position to comment further on this incident. The ICRC understands the security concerns of the Israeli authorities and has always acknowledged their right to check ambulances, provided it does not unduly delay medical evacuations."

The ICRC statement continued: "More than ever, the ICRC is committed to ensuring that both Israeli and Palestinian wounded and sick have access to medical services. This can be achieved only if the medical services operate unobstructed and in full transparency. The ICRC, in cooperation with the PRCS, will continue the dialogue with all the parties involved to take new measures to that effect."

The ICRC again urged all the parties involved in the ongoing violence "to refrain from any abuse of the life-saving service provided by the emergency medical workers, and to show absolute respect for the medical services."

DUH! Like no one who actually considered this actually doubted the diaperheads would be hiding bombs this way.

Look for a ambulance being suicide driven into a heavily populated area soon.

Don't hold your breath, folks. The UN won't be condemning the Palistinian terrorists or Arafat for this any time soon.

And "the world" comes down on Israel for stopping speeding ambulances at the check points because it is so unfair to see what's inside: a Palestinian lady giving birth, or a suicide bomber heading for the Knesset.

Too late for that. If I were Israel, I'd bar all Palestinian border crossers for whatever reason.

Yep, they'll be blaming right-wing Jews for "escalating the cycle of violence."

ICRC needs to dig it's heads out of the sand (or butt--whichever the case).

Israel issued a warning 2 weeks ago to watch out for ambulances because they may contain explosives.

For the Israeli's, this is nothing new. Terrorist Palestinians have been using "exploding" ambulances for a long time.

ICRC needs to realize that you can't deal with terrorists; terrorists are not nice people. ICRC thinks they are just misunderstood. In reality, they are suicidal murderers.

The ICRC honchos occupy the far right side of the Bell Curve. These people send their young sons and daughters with plastique strapped to their waists in search of Israels sons and daughters. They actually think these people would consider an ambulance sacrosanct?

Fin idiots.

The IRC can sttart by recognizing Israel's ambulance service, the MDA (Mogen David Adoma- 'The Red Star of David').

I seem to remember a post about a year ago of pictures from Isreal showing guns and ammo bandiliers being handed out from the back of a red cresant ambulace during one of the so called rock throwing incidents.

Wouldn't be the first charitable organization that was either infiltrated by terrorists or was an outright front.

Are they "shocked" or "shocked, shocked"?

Give the circumstances, I can't resist posting the classic dialogue, from www.imdb.com:

Rick Blaine: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Captain Louis Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[A croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Louis Renault:
[sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.
[aloud] Everybody out at once!

How timeless this bit of movie magic is!

Been reports of this activity for months....eyewitness reports at that - even reliable sources.....

Why the shock? The Palestinians have been targeting innocent civilians including women and children. Why should any methods used by such animals be a surprise or shock?

Right up there with the UN's condemnation of Israel for it's retaliatory actions which targeted actual "legitimate" targets including Arafat's men/guards, and others within the terrorist organization.

Where is the UN outrage and action against the Palestinians?

I am dumb founded that they are surprised if they really are. If you would hide explosives on live human beings, what do these people care about an ambulance.

Certainly the wealthy Arabs would like to donate money to the Palestinians so they can build their own hospitals and schools and jobs on their side so it should be possible for Israel to keep them out of areas they might like to suicide bomb. There shouldn't be Palestinians anywhere near the Israeli citizens.
