I don't know where anything is anymore!
Where are the sidebars?

He'll probably take one look and label it "Truth in Advertising" ... I hate those New Testament bon mots ...

"All of this customization and compartmentalization will water us down. Everyone is going to have their own little freep world and it's even possible for two posters to never meet each other. It was more user friendly and effective when everyone was "on the same page"."
You know Jim told me once that this was going happen. Of course his implication was that the Intelligent people would be able to hang out in one place and the "KOOKS" in another. I told him that this would just cause seperation. And No thanks. I remember his reply..."I see". It is a real shame even if people wanted to unite on an issue they would not be able to do it effectively here anymore. And for those people who just come here without being registered(I have added a bookmark to FR on many a persons Browswers) This is going to be a real turn off to them too.

Seen them around? hehehehe - No, I think they are smart enough to let the dust settle a little. By tonight, everyone may have browsed and learned their way around enough to have real questions instead of all the knee-jerk reactions of this morning ;~D
Either that or they are getting some sleep!

This is great. It'll drive the disruptors nuts........Hmmm.. I didn't know I was one.
If that is the reason, then it is working.

This isn't a new government regulation. This is much more like a consumer product. Companies that change a product and then complain that users didn't try the beta samples when sales plummet generally end up in Bankruptcy Court.
Clearly, this is Mr. Robinson's site and he's the final arbiter. But these changes are making my surfing experience more difficult and slow. I am a fairly fast reader and information is no longer in an easily scanned format. Think about it. Books and newspapers follow very simple formats that haven't changed in a century (outside of color). Why? Because they worked at getting information to the customer.

Regarding your point #2...that is precisely the reason we have the new format. The squeeky wheel gets the grease~~ and those who were so high and mighty that they couldn't be bothered to pass over the things they didn't want to read are the ones who SQUEEKED!
I can see their point if they had no way to discern the gist of the thread, but cryin' out loud, all they had to do was scroll past the thread! Now here we are trying to read small fonts, waiting eons for pages to load (I have cable modem and its still long), and generally all in a snit.
And, yes, I have sent $$$.

Another sycophantic oaf joins in. -- Pathetic.
We're not all out to get you. Really. Really we're not. :)

Am I too late for the Harry Potter thread?
"If FR doesn't go back to the old format, I'll never vote for Bush again!
There isn't a dime's worth of difference between Beta and the Dem Underground format. Nowhere in the constitution does it mention Beta. Obviously this is another sign that the end is near, the barbarians are at the gate, and the 4 horsemen prepare to ride." < / satire >

For Gawd's sake, lighten up and take that damn broomstick outta yer ass, dude. That's gotta hurt.
SNORT.

I'm right with you!
What about the campaign pledge? McCain wanted to Balkanize, but Bush promised "no Blanket Balkanization!"
It's like Hillary runs the joint now.

No, -- apparently, - my main funcion in life is to annoy the real idiots, like you & VA, that infest this site. - Or so it seems, from all the unsolicited personal attacks I get from your side of the aisle.
Tom, please don't try to charaterize this in divisive terms. We're all on the same team here. Some of us are quarterbacks, and you, well, you're just one of the ends.

Let me lay this out simple and clear. Every one of you whining a-holes better have thrown a few bucks into the kitty during the last fund raiser. One of the reasons why Jim and John have to work their software interface magic is because there are MANY MANY freeloaders here who suck up resources and don't give back a thing. The demand grows, the network resources are stretched, the costs rise and the equipment investments are evaluated ... Never mind, it's none of your business. Everything John and Jim do is with the FR users in mind. EVERYTHING. It's simple ... nobody is forcing you to lay on a bed of nails, nobody is forcing you to stick a screw driver into your left eye, nobody is forcing you to be drawn and quartered, and nobody is forcing you to endure the Bataan Death March torture that is the new Free Republic. Log off, and don't come back. With an attitude like that, just maybe I'll log off and take my money with me. In the last fund raiser I gave a dam* and contributed a large percentage of my state's contribution (somewhere around 25 %, as I recall, due to a lack of other contributers). The only thing I'm asking that it buy is an efficient and fast Conservative FreeRepublic web site on a slow-dial up-modem, which it did. This new FR design is not that, and I have no problem in telling John and Jim what my opinion is.
To: CedarDave
Oh great, now the profiles aren't working?
I just want the old FR or at least the option to choose the old format.
To: bvw
The poll question thing was a gimmick to get people to try the beta. I knew that as soon as I got to the bottom and it said that you could only vote in the beta version. I Felt manipulated right there -and did not vote.

I could be a smart@$$ and say that the FREEP is becoming more like the Fed every week. You know, it wasn't broke so they brought in a repairman...

You can log off any time you like, but you can never leave!Soooo incredibly clever! Thanks for superb lyrics to my favorite song.

information is no longer in an easily scanned formatI really see no real difference in the way the threads/posts are displayed for browsing through them... what do you mean exactly?
You can turn on/off the display of the "full post" or just the headline, so with only the headlines displayed, I see very little difference, functionally, from the old way. And yet when things are slow, you can view the whole text of replies in "latest posts" and find interesting conversations that are happening within threads.
As for the font size, you can control that in your browser (Or at least I can with IE 6)

To Find Postings By Other Freepers
To find another FReeper's posts, do the following:
Click on "Search" at the top or bottom of any thread page and in bold maroon letters
above the search field it will say:
Find User Click Here
Clicking that will open up an additional search field to enter a FReeper's screenname. To avoid
misspellings, I'd recommend selecting their name, copying (ctrl+c) and then pasting it (ctrl+v).
Hope this helps.
