My comments are not whining about the color of the wallpaper. They are about being able to use this forum at all. If the economics dictate this has to be done, that is the way it is. I am simply sorry to see a forum I relied on for years become an agony to access.

I vote for a VERY SIMPLE "default" format.

Let the tech-heads super-customize all the whistles and bells they want, but for a newbie, or a lurker, or an old-timer, there should be a CLASSIC VIEW option with NO flag graphic on the left side, NO poll question, no right side 'breaking news', etc.

Perhaps all the new "custom" features have significant benefit, but if they discourage visitors - both new and old - they are COUNTER-productive.

Please make http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/finduser MUCH easier to find, and return the ability to just CLICK on 'find in forum' once you are at a users home page.

I'm with you on this issue too Laz. The old format looked like the results from a search engine like Google. Since my monitor (and back) faces the traffic past my cube, the new format will likely draw some unwanted attention.

There was a move afoot a while ago to provision people to be able to "skin" their view of FR as they preferred. I wish it were so now!
