[history]
President Bush said Wednesday he has a strategy to help a textile industry whose executives say is on the brink of financial collapse because of foreign competition.
But he offered no details, and critics of the administration's trade policies later said the president is long on talk, but short on action when it comes to textiles.

Texiles and Bush . Wonder whats gonna happen?
To: Captain Shady
It's probably too late, but a textile tariff is long overdue.
After steel and Canadian lumber tariffs, why not textiles?

"President Bush said Wednesday he has a strategy to help a textile industry whose executives say is on the brink of financial collapse because of foreign competition. " Is he going to use the same 'strategy' that he used in 'helping' the steel industry? Big whoop.
To: Captain Shady
Good not another f****** tariff. America needs to scrap all labor laws so we can have sweatshops not tariffs.

Ever since Bush almost choked on that pretzel he has seemed to embrace Hooveromics( these tariffs), appeasement( this sellout of Israel), and the Constitution as a living document(signing CFR).

I'd have no problem with a revenue tariff if they replaced the income or capital gains tax with it but protective tariffs are economically stupid. As for protecting inefficent things in the name of national security steel production in the US hasn't fallen in the last ten years and Canada and Mexico's production can be counted on in a war( we can easily occupy them if they don't want to export steel) besides most military equipment doesn't use steel anymore it uses composites. As for lumber I don't see how thats a national security at all.

"Ever since Bush almost choked on that pretzel " Eureka! That's it! You've hit the nail on the head!
The real GWB expired from choking on a pretzel and was replaced by a pod person.
Or...perhaps he's really a Red Lectroid from the Planet Ten in the Eighth Dimension!

HE NEEDS TO HELP THE SHOE INDUSTRY ALSO.

Bush is going to own the unions. It is pretty clear these are paybacks for Union suppport of ANWR. Politics is pretty ugly isn't it.
Once the unions figure out which side is taking the lead on free speech in the courts regarding CFR, the liberals are in an even deeper hole.
To: fred flinch
I hope your being sarcastic a pair of shoes cost about 40 or 50 bucks and they fall apart in a year if any industry doesn't need protection...

and Canada and Mexico's production can be counted on in a war( we can easily occupy them if they don't want to export steel) Yeah, I can see that happening. We attack Iraq for occupying Kuwait, but expect no retaliation for occupying two sovereign nations?
To: VRWC_minion
The best way to own the unions would be to simply outlaw them or at least take away all their special legal privleges.

War is hell. The gulf war was a mistake IMHO we should have made a deal with Saddam to sell us oil cheaper and to destroy the Wahabbi sect in Saudi Arabia and in return he gets to keep Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
