Bush says he has plan to help textile industry

President Bush said Wednesday he has a strategy to help a textile industry whose executives say is on the brink of financial collapse because of foreign competition.

But he offered no details, and critics of the administration's trade policies later said the president is long on talk, but short on action when it comes to textiles.

I'd have no problem with a revenue tariff if they replaced the income or capital gains tax with it but protective tariffs are economically stupid. As for protecting inefficent things in the name of national security steel production in the US hasn't fallen in the last ten years and Canada and Mexico's production can be counted on in a war( we can easily occupy them if they don't want to export steel) besides most military equipment doesn't use steel anymore it uses composites. As for lumber I don't see how thats a national security at all.

Bush is going to own the unions. It is pretty clear these are paybacks for Union suppport of ANWR. Politics is pretty ugly isn't it.

Once the unions figure out which side is taking the lead on free speech in the courts regarding CFR, the liberals are in an even deeper hole.

War is hell. The gulf war was a mistake IMHO we should have made a deal with Saddam to sell us oil cheaper and to destroy the Wahabbi sect in Saudi Arabia and in return he gets to keep Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
