Pretty basic.

If someone takes over the plane, you are riding a bomb until/unless you regain control. If the passengers were allowed to be armed, (even just the folks with CCW Permits), or simply issued K-Bars (USMC sheath knives) for the duration of the flight, the odds are in favor of the plane being taken back from hijackers.

Given that you are dead meat otherwise, who wouldn't try to take them down. Sheer numbers should overwhelm the enemy.

The bottom line is that if we lose our rights, they win.

Being conversant with guerilla warfare and terrorism Id say the US hasn't met Lex Luthor yet....the good news is he's not likely to be middle eastern the bad news is if hes conversant with what the KGB had in place in the 50's and 60's he'll organise a bit better than a jab to the nose

I don't travel without at least a sharpened pencil or a pen, since they take away everything else. Hopefully the pen is mighter than the sword if a situation ever comes up.

"But I think we have to recognize that you cannot allow the enemy the power to compromise our essential values and freedoms."

I heard my former Gov Gilmore (Virginia) being interviewed the other day and he was saying these same things, and in particular emphasizing that we cannot discard our freedom and liberty in the course of protecting the nation.

Gilmore is the only pol out there saying this with such clarity. I'm proud that he was our Governor.

I agree, it's going to happen again. Right now the gov is fretting about dirty bombs and bio-terrorism (ever see "The Stand"?), but I can't help but get the feeling it's an attempt at mis-direction.

We've all heard that the security at airports is still a screw-up, and in some reports they have stated ther is no negligible difference between today and Spet 11. This also means there has not been another attack because they have chosen to wait, NOT because the screeners have been Federalized.

Simply put, we are still vulnerable, and we should all have the obligation to carry a weapon in defense of ouselves, our families, and our nation.

Don't forget the value of Scotch or vodka used as mace (i.e., thrown in someone's face) - I've had both in my eyes and can't tell the difference. The mace was windblown from my own can!

I usually pass up liquor because I like to have a smoke with my drinks but you gave me a good enough reason to have a shot sitting in front of me at all times!

"It (Sept. 11) created an environment of change in American society and culture," he said. "A change for the worse."

The beginning of Americas horror started in 1992.
Hopefully, we can correct the damage done to this country before the end of this decade. Maybe not.
With an American president aiding the enemy with his quest, willingly or unwillingly, the enemy has gotten a choke hold on our once militarily and morally secure nation.
Could we turn back time knowing what we know now, the left wing and it's vision of world utopia would not even exist. To suggest it would be treason.

Re #1

Arab terrorists are still learning the new techniques. They are used to guerilla warfares, assasinations, car bombs, airplan bombs, and hijacking. They ventured out to cripple advanced industrialized nation far away from their playground of Europe and Mid-East.

Technology opened the new danger to them and also new opportunities. There is also economic dimesion of terrorism, which used to be just blocking supply of key raw material, such as oil. Now there are more dimensions. Affecting financial markets or disrupting smooth flow of goods and information. Either of them creates large economic repercussions. But they are slow to get a handle on it. Not that they are not aware of such possibilities but have not figured out how to exploit them sucessfully, I suspect. However, I would not discount WMD threats in their immdediate harm via germs or chemicals or explosions, or their psychological effects via hysteria they generate.

Nothing will happen until after the November elections. If something did occur--then Bush would have more popularity, power, and coattails. If nothing happens-then the Democrats can concentrate on domestic issues and have a chance to firm up their majority in the Senate and possibly take over the House. Terrorists know this and would rather deal with Democrats in control of this country because they(the dems) are wimps--they'll want to talk about why we were terrorized in the first place. Another terrorist attack on/in this country and W and his MEN will pound them!

Sounds like what he said about the cartax. Clear direction from this man, pphhhht! Come on he just tells us what he wants to hear and then does what the socirepulicrats wants him to do.

I'm proud that he was our Governor.

I'm not. In my opinion of the man, He was a lying, scheming twit.

You can carry a few of those miniature bottles with you in your purse or carryon - security doesn't care. But you're not supposed to drink from your own stash while on the plane.

I'm not kidding - I was at a bar w/ a scotch/water in front of me. Had a dry contact, was slightly loopy - dipped my finger in the scotch and put ONE drop in my eye - NEVER AGAIN - I couldn't see for 5 or 10 minutes.
