Why is Sept. 11 only being remembered for what happened to NY? As I recall, the Pentagon was hit and a plane went down in PA. Let's not forget them. Let's also not forget those wonderful soldiers overseas fighting to give us the freedom to have these stupid Oscars Ceremonies.

and I think it is something special to be the first black woman to receive an Oscar.....

She isn't the first black woman to get the Oscar. Hattie McDaniels got it as Best Supporting Actress in Gone With the Wind.

Just remember LOTR has 2 SEQUELS that should be as good or BETTER than the first installment :).

Yes, and because the other two are already in the can people have only gotten to see 1/3 of the entire movie. My guess is that after the other 2 parts are out there will be a special academy award for the totality of the Trillogy

Yeah, BM wins Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, (and I believe Best Screenplay?), but not Best Actor??? Hmmmmm. Something's rotten in Denmark, all in the name of diversity. Gag!!!

Well, at least she didn't call the "...thousands who died...heroes." like Kevin Spacey did. Some of them still don't get it.

I am soooo disgusted. Russell Crowe was robbed all in the name of diversity. This is BS.

So what would you be saying if one of the nominees besides Will Smith had won? Would that be "diversity" too? News flash- some Blacks can act and some are willing to give out awards for that.

I just don't like Whoopie. She is not a talented actress and I don't find her funny. The Oscars are really getting bad. And LOTR got dissed. Hollywierd is a very strange place.

Will it be in a new category called "Best Trilogy"? Lord of the Rings, Star Wars I, II, and III, Shrek I, II, and III, The Matrix 1, 2 and 3, X-Men 1, 2, and 3 are the nominees....

Right. By laying on the race factor SO thick tonight, the film industry forever spoiled Halle's and Denzel's perfectly legit victories. Everybody will saying "They only won it because they're black." Way to go, libs, you did it again, you damn fools.

Great thread this evening, HLL. Go to bed, you are going to die with jet lag tomorrow. And I am excited that a balding redhead won for best director and best picture. I love Ron Howard's movies.

I don't remember him, but there are so many others I do.

Did the actors have red, white and blue ribbons for the dead, BTW?

What in the &*(^&% is going on? LOTR was by far the best movie I've seen in a long time. (Falling on floor in desolate heap; writhing in pain; gazing imploringly at the heavens, arms outstretched, with expression of 'why' 'why'?)

I was disgusted long before tonight.

For them to give BLACK HAWK DOWN the shaft was disgraceful.

Not to mention screwing Ridley Scott last year (for GLADIATOR) and this year.

FWIW, Russel Crowe also got screwed tonight.

Bottom Line : The Academy and MOST of Hollywood sucks!
