Members of the D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com stood vigil at the Pentagon Memorial on Saturday, March 16, 2002, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., as we paid our respects to those murdered on September 11 in the terrorist attacks. We also showed our continuing support for President Bush and the men and women in our armed forces as they conduct Operation Enduring Freedom.
It was a cloudy day filled with intermittent rain. Luckily for us, the rain stopped while we were there tending to the memorial and talking to the many visitors who still flock to the hillside to spend a few moments in silence, look at or read the various items left in memory of the victims of September 11, or leave something of their own at the memorial sites.
The red, white and blue carnations that we have been leaving beneath the larger of the saplings were joined by a bouquet of green carnations to commemorate St. Patrick's Day weekend. Many thanks go to tgslTakoma for arranging for the flowers most weeks. This week, they turned out to be especially colorful and lovely.
The remnants of the recent fire at the memorial are still visible, but new items are being added every week.
I spoke with a couple visiting from Maine who said they had been to New York and took a chance that they could come to the Pentagon. The husband was retired from the Navy and they had many questions regarding the damage to and reconstruction of the Pentagon.
Present at the Pentagon on Saturday were: tgslTakoma, kristinn, stand watie, BufordP, Gore_ War_ Vet and his family and myself. Just past 3:00 p.m. we left the Pentagon Memorial and adjourned to Bennigan's near Landmark Shopping Center where we joined other Chapter members for a planning session regarding the April 20 counterprotest to anti-war rallies scheduled that day.
Pictures of the day's activities will be posted shortly by tgslTakoma.
Hugs

How many weeks have you guys been to that memorial now? Ya'll just keep showing up in the right places at the right time!
while my body is in damnyankee-occupied VA, my heart is in SC= the FREE dixie, sw
And a special Thanks to you Taxman!
I don't know why but just the idea of you being there at the Pentagon on Saturday brings tears to these tired old eyes. I miss seeing and hearing Barbara Olson give Hillary hell. Surely, for her sake, we must not lose our resolve. At times, it is very discouraging to see what is ahead for our country unless armies of people turn out to stop the massitve voter fraud that is planned to give the Senate and the House control to Daschle and Hitlery's control.
But thinking about Barbara Olson - and thinking about your stalwart courage and dedication to Freedom that evidences itself in so many ways - gives me some hope. Even if the worst comes, even if the evil triumph, they will never triumph without hearing the voices and seeing the faces of "le resistance". And, if some other sad sacks will get up off their rear ends - and go find ways to
1) Register non-Demonratic voters plus
2) Volunteer to be poll watchers and / or judges - with helpers - at the precincts where the most common vote fraud will occur this November and
3) Find ways to be ready and available to get people to the polls to vote who normally might stay home -.....
Well, we might even have a victory in November.
Otherwise, the road ahead is very dark and the future of our country will be very bleak.
Thanks for the inspiration and the hope you guys create in everything you do! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!
I don't feel welcome there anymore.
