Daniel Pearl was there doing his job, a job that he loved. His job is risky and sometimes he has to play both sides of the coin to get a story, but that story was for us, he was/is not disloyal to his country. I just listened to the 8-minute interview with Marianne Pearl. She says she is Cuban and Dutch, not French. I am French, but not for 300 years. Marianne had not slept in 6 days (January 30) and said "dialogue" about fifty or sixty times. How she and Daniel were so much alike in trying to establish "dialogue".

The adults in charge are correct in not negotiating for Daniel Pearl's release. We all are correct in holding his captors in the lowest contempt. Beyond that it's a question as to how many volts to run through what parts of their body.

If any blame exists beyond Daniel Pearl, it lies first with Hillary Clinton who freed the FALN scum, smooched Suha and generally prances in the camp revue of Hate America First.

It is the job of our military to go after terrorist, it is not the job of the military to rescue people who disregard warnings by our SD(although we use them sometimes).

One person puts himself in danger so we send some of our young men into harms way to rescue him endangering their lives as well.....this could of all been avoided in the first place if that one person would have taken heed of this warning.

But that's ok....just send in a few GI's to take care of the situation, when they get killed or wounded you can comfort his parents by telling them that, that was his job.....better yet...you go or send your son, we'll be right behind you.....you are brave with other people's lives.

What does any of this have to do with a reporter putting himself in a deadly position to get a scoop. Those at the WTC would have taken the day off had there been a reported threat. You're going out on a real limb now.

The point is that terrorism occurs when there is no "reported threat", so like it or not, we are all at risk....everyday.

The AG issued a warning last week that the nations water supply was "at risk". Did you heed that warning or did you drink the water anyway? If you drank the water, you were in danger of being killed and you were warned.

WE do have the freedom of the press, but evidently a fact lost on you is the fact that our freedom doesnt always extend beyond our borders. sorry, but he is not a hero like the others you mention. defying the state dept warning does not make you a hero, it makes your military's job that much more difficult.

Exactly. Journalists have often put themselves at risk to get the story - to do their job. Waco, the Elian raid, riots, car chases and etc. If any of the reporters covering those stories had died, I bet many of the people criticizing David Pearl would have called them a 'hero' in a heartbeat. It's rather sad. I pray David Pearl hasn't been killed.

Last report about 5mins. ago, the story on CNN about Daniel is just a rumor, as far as all know, he is still alive. CNN sort of puts me in the mind of Drudge, sometimes his stories pan out, sometimes they do not, but getting the story first (right or wrong) for them is what counts, I guess. They make their corrections later. Have to admit, it sure had all of us Freepers in an "off with their heads" frenzy.
