A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 1/16/02

A light Wednesday for President Bush as he greeted the Prime Minister of Turkey, Bulent Ecevit. During his meeting, the President took a strong stance against those who are seeking to overturn the tax cuts.

The President also spoke to the World Affairs Council National Conference at the Organization of American States in DC, where he warned that Argentina will face a "bleak and stagnant future" unless it embraces international trade and other free-market economic policies amid a devastating recession. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

This is good, as I am pretty sure that W doesn't speak Turkish. I could be wrong, though. :-)

The man has more talents than any of us realize, Miss Marple.........
Perhaps speaking Turkish is one of them. :o)

For those of us who can't read enough about our President, I'm recommending a paperback that was sold in Safeway. It's a biography written for the age 9 - 14 crowd and the title is "President George W. Bush Our Forty-third President" It's by Beatrice Gormley and is one of 'ALADDIN PAPERBACKS' of Simon & Schuster. There are anecdotes about young George W. having fun and many black and white photos.

The Turkish PM may not be the most handsome guy on the block but he sure was praising President Bush and how well he's handling his office. His English wasn't perfect but he was quite easy to understand.

From the White House web site:

PRIME MINISTER ECEVIT: Thank you very much for your kind invitation, Mr. President. It is a great honor for us. We deeply appreciate the support that you have extended since you have taken over, to relations with Turkey. We had always good relations with the United States in your -- during your time of office. And you have totally enhanced this cooperation and friendship.

We have some very good, concrete good news now, as you have referred to it, Mr. President. The State Department has today issued a statement expressing the will of the United States that we will be able to form an economic partnership in additional to our political partnership. We attach great importance to that -- our cooperation with you against terrorism is a great service, not only for our own people, but for the whole world.

The American determination to get rid of terrorism in the world is of great importance, of historic importance, and we are glad we are very happy that we have the chance to cooperate with you to that effect. And Turkish and American cooperation, partnership now together with economic partnership will be beneficial for both -- peoples of both our countries.

We had very fruitful discussions during the brief period here. We still have other items on our agenda, and we shall go to New York also to visit the place of terrorism. Thank you very much for sharing this time, for showing this generosity and friendship to us.

Looks like W got a haircut. I heard his response to Teddy. Very firm. I don't think the Dems have a clue what it is they are doing. W's running circles around them.

I still haven't got the Vanity Fair mag. Maybe tomorrow. Every time I check I can't find it. Sigh.

I love the third pic of post 3 - the close up. He has the greatest eyes. What a sweet man.

Keep looking for the Vanity Fair ..... it's worth the effort. The pictures are fantastic .... very dramatic in black and white. Not just of President Bush but all the top members of the Security Council (Cheney, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, and others), Ari, John Ashcroft, etc. .... it's outstanding! And I haven't even read the text yet .... :-)

Try checking at grocery stores and drug stores as well as places like Target.

And look for the Ladies Home Journal, too ..... you'll LOVE it!!!

Teddy said we've got to raise taxes (or at least halt the tax cut, which amounts to the same thing). Bush's response is the opening quote from rintense .... said when the media asked him about Teddy's remarks while he was meeting with the PM of India.

Thanks. When you've spent your entire life out of touch with the cost of living like Teddy Kennedy, it's easy to see no harm in raising taxes.

Yesterday there was the most wonderful thread about Rumsfeld and a group of school children who have done something really special. There are some absolutely wonderful pictures on that thread along with a great story.

For some reason, not many people have been there and seen it ..... so I'm promoting it. If you check it out, please ping your friends and bump it so others will see it too.

***No offense intended here, but doesn't the Prime Minister of Turkey look like he has one of those glasses/fake nose/mustache disguises on? LOL! ***

Yes, he does! Hey! You could do this for your daughter's wedding! When your daughter and her groom turn around after being pronounced husband and wife...they'll see all their wedding guests in groucho glasses. lol! A friend of mine had this happen at her wedding...before I knew her.
