If this doesn't send a chill down your spine as to the safety of our constitutional rights nothing will. This Sheriff is up for reelection and questions will be raised as to why he was involved in violating this resident's constitutional rights.
I'll post on this thread the Pinedale Roundup owner/editor's comment momentarily.............it's excellent and right on point!!

IMHO, they had little or no cause to get a warrant and they knew it or else they would have had it. It was a Nazi fishing espedition pure and simple.

This guy's editorial opinion is outstanding. That he had the courage to make a major issue of this in this small town speaks volumes of his character.

If the story is accurate it sounds like they got his name from the customer records of the gentleman who was marketing the .50 BMG kits. I forget what his name is but he was put on trial in Arizona only to have all the charges dropped by the BATF. I don't know what the outcome was but at the time there was some speculation on this forum that what they really wanted from this man was his customer records. The .50 BMG kits, when assembled for personal use, do not legally have to have a serial number.
Kudos to the reporter and agent for hyping up the dangers of this weapons awesome distructive powers. <\sarcasm>

It also looks like NFA regulated firearms (fully automatic) are perfectly legal in Wyoming as well.

[...the BATF had the authority to confiscate the .50BMG under the new anti-terrorism statute]. Really? Where does the statute allow for confiscation of someone's firearms without conviction or even accusation of a crime?

There's a good 20 or 30 years of precedent for these kinds of tactics, set by the ever-helpful War On Drugs. The train of consequences always runs on time.

Coerced consent happens all the time. They tie in the bill collecting function of the towing company, insurance company, child support etc, to the licensing and operation of a motor vehicle. Of course the govt can do this, but how soon until Penneys, Sears or AT&T can do the same?
