Good move. Had Ashcroft found nothing, they would label him a cover up artist.

Does anyone know the specifics of the connection?

So when does the investigation hit California, and the moron governor who decided to manipulate the power market of the most populous state in the nation?! If you start playing insider games with power prices, ... stands to reason it might drive a company like Enron, playing the margin on power prices, straight to bankruptcy.
So fine, recuse, but don't drop the ball. Gray Davis deserves one serious investigation!

The DUmmies are already salivating over Bush's corpse. They are predicting everything from a Dem sweep in future elections to the entire Bush administration going to prison. I think they are going to be extremely disappointed in their assessment. At this point, the law needs to determine if Enron executives screwed their employees and buggered off with the cash, and if so, their ill-gotten wealth should be rechanneled back to the affected employees and the Enron bigwigs should face jail time. But I fail to see how their past campaign contributions to Bush and Ashcroft (and Daschle, Schumer, etc) will taint the administration. Regardless, prepare for a year or more of expensive lawyers and committees, paid for by us taxpayers, and driven by desperate Democrats.

The Enron fiasco is going to hurt Bush. Iran-Contra put Republicans in the wilderness for eight years. How long will they be in the wilderness after Enron?

Only one year ago, the culture in Washington was dominated by a word parsing, dishonest administration. Foulness was in the air. How refreshing to see honesty and straight-forward people in the halls of power. I used to think it could not be. God bless our President and his cabinet.

Looks like Enron has dug a grave. I hope they don't take any Bush people with them. Bush has not pulled any punches on this issue. The Dems are not going to take this fact into account and that is the way things are. Looks like Anderson is covering their butts. Big story!

Wait a daggone minute! I thought an Attorney General's job was to ignore conflicts so as to run interference for her (uh, I mean his) administration.

Isn't it typical that the LIBERAL MEDIA is making such a big deal about this, which is obviously nothing, and yet they IGNORED the treason committed on a daily basis by the Clintons?? --Alyssa

Right away, Ashcroft shows more class than Stooge Reno ever had.

Can anyone tell me why
"Enron is not Bush's Whitewater: Commentary It Will Be Worse" keeps getting deleted?

IF they did not have this stupid system of campaign contributions they would not have these messes coming up.
Contributions should be to a single fund. They the candidates draw from that fund for their financing.
If this type of thing went on in business, they would jail the people involved.
