CNSNews.com) - Democrat Al Gore "has let it be known around town" that he'll run for president again in 2004, according to Fortune Magazine.
The magazine, quoting the "buzz" among Washington, D.C. lobbyists, says the two leading candidates for the 2004 presidential nomination are Gore and Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. As for Gore, "The decision has been made," according to Fortune reporter Jeffrey Birnbaum.
The report says Gore may seek Sen. Joe Lieberman as his running mate again, although some think Lieberman may have presidential ambitions of his own.
On Daschle's anticipated run for the presidency, Fortune reports that his opening salvo was his economic speech on Friday in Washington.
The magazine says the ascendancy of Gore and Daschle relegates Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of N.C. "to the second tier of Democratic hopefuls." Stay tuned.

The looney left and the looney left.
John Edwards - in his only time in office - has established a voting record congruent to Ted Kennedy. He got elected for his (so far) only time because nobody knew what he stood for - being that he had neither a prior voting record nor any body of political speeches to look through.
Algore's problem was the opposite; absurd econazi book, other looney-left speeches and writings, and totally-looney-left history in the Klintons/Gore Regime.
Algore in his own words, 1992-2000 - including Earth In The Balance

Algore doesn't want to make the mistake of other heavyweight Rats who stayed out in 92' and watched as a third rater named Bill Clinton managed to beat a previously untouchable President once at the height of his popularity happen to him this time around. (If some othe Rat got the presidential nomination and somehow won he'd be kicking his missed chance for the rest of his life). That President was named Bush. The current President is named... Bush and also happens to be at the height of his popularity and Gore figures that well in 2004 history will repeat itself and he will finally achieve his life-long ambition of being President. He's thrown his hat in the ring and the race for the Rat presidential nomination is joined at last.

I can't believe this; who would vote for this arrogant man who was second in command of the now admittedly failed Clinton administration? Remember Al Gore and his three circles? America and Americans came in dead last.

If algore runs in '04', it's because the democrats know he is a loser, and this will leave it open for hitlery in '08'.

My thoughts exactly. He's a loser and they know it. They'll let him run rather than waste what they consider a "credible" contender.

Oh PLEASE run Mr. Gore. I want so badly to be able to vote for you. As you know every vote counts and mine could be the deciding one in your future victory in 2004.
Sincerely,
DisEnfranchised FloriDUH voter
PS I think I finally got that screwy ballot figured out! Your name's at the top, right?

The one thing positive I can say about Al Gore is that he had a very quiet 2001 unlike his ex-boss. Other than growing a beard, gaining a few pounds, and a stint at teaching the one-time Presidential thief has been a model loser.

Gore, Daschle, and Edwards---All shmoes who will fall to the Hillary machine. Haven't they gotten a clue as to this yet?

We don't need a return to the bad old days.

With the option of Gore running again, my stomach turns into a knot. We sure don't want to go through what we did last election. I hope and pray that by the time the election of 2004 comes they have state of the art voting machines. That they watch college students who boasted of voting twice and was allowed to. That they don't go in as dead people or as animals or that they don't recruit retarded people or criminals. That the registration of all voters are legitimate and they check it out methodically. That they straighten out how the military votes and allow them to. That they watch Illinois like a hawk with the corrupt politicians there who don't bat an eye at voting irregularities.

Gore or Daschle in 2004?
Don't let them fool you. It's all a ploy to get Hillary on the ticket. There'll be plenty of trial balloons for pseudo-candidates, but in the end she'll come in "save" the party. Who else can energize the liberal left?
She's laying low for now, but I wouldn't be surprised if she and her team are cooking something up behind the scenes. We must be ever vigilant.

Gore definitely wants a rematch, but will he run if Bush looks solid in 2004? I dunno. That would violate the Nixon precedent. But then again, in 1992 all the big names stayed out and let Bill Clinton win the nomination and the election. If Gore doesn't get into the mix early, he might lose his front-runner status to Daschle or an unknown like Edwards.
To: Florie
My personal opinion is that Mr. Moneybags for the Democratic Party aka Clinton isn't going to give the okay to a Gore run. Clinton and Gore now hold a grudge against one another and unless Gore is willing to publicly grovel to his old boss he won't get any help from the national party. Clinton is going to have the final say and the successor to his crown is going to have to acknowledge Clinton as the real power behind the scenes.
I don't believe Gore has enough grassroots support from lowlevel Dems to make it on his own.
That said: My hope is that Gore does run because it is a distraction to other hopefuls such as the "charismatic and shallow" (shades of Clinton) Edwards and the dour Kerry who might not get enough traction in their bid for the nomination with Gore's presence in the race.
If Gore runs the country will not see a replay of 2000. Bush is going to be far more formidable and daunting as a candidate than the man Gore faced and lost to the first time. Whereas, Gore has used up much political capital and reputation in his last failed bid.
Bush would win hands down against him. T
