Here's one from Karen who's from upstate, New York. Big territory. "Bill, I almost always agree with you, but you are really wrong on this one. The pilot did exactly the right thing. And anyone who believes a government ID cannot be forged is living in a fantasy."

Supposedly, the guy apologized to the SOC Manager from American for his tirade, but then, I guess, must have reconsidered his apology.

No, thats not true. On the American Website the SOC manager stated that the Agents supervisor said he was sorry. This was said during the process of trying to get the agent back on an American flight the next day so he could get to Crawford. Whether the Agent ever made any such comment is purely speculation. Again you are accepting the American Airlines lawyer prepared document as factual. It may or may not be.

"The person that "didn't know he was Arab" was the control manager 1000 miles away. This was previously addressed by someone else. You're totally clueless."

Really?

In the post I was responding to, the poster was confusing the pilot and the control manager. The control manager may have inferred that the agent in question was Arab, but this is a different issue.

That is the key to the whole situation. If he did in fact fail to properly fill out the paperwork three times he failed to do his duty and should not be allowed board the plane. The paper work is still around and should seal the agents fate if it is in fact improperly filled out.

NAACP Ends Boycott after Adam's Mark Settles Discrimination Claims
By Linda Bean
© 2001 DiversityInc.com
December 03, 2001

The Adam's Mark resort in Daytona Beach, Fla., will pay more than $2 million to settle allegations that it discriminated against African-American guests during Black College Reunion (BCR) 1999, bringing an end to a boycott launched by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

"I think it is an excellent outcome," said John Relman, a Washington, D.C. attorney who represents the seven original plaintiffs in the case. "As far as I'm aware, it is the largest monetary settlement achieved involving a hotel chain for public accommodations discrimination."

Still, the settlement reached announced Monday is far less than the sum the hotel chain agreed to in a 2000 settlement that eventually was rejected by a federal judge. The original agreement required Adam's Mark to spend $8 million to address allegations of discrimination at the Florida resort.

Well, let's see, the supervisor said in his report that the agent admitted losing his temper and then said that the supervisor spoke to the agent and the agent was sorry. Oh wait, you seem to think that EVERYONE else is a liar, thats right, the whole world is against this "poor" member of the most elite group in this country.

Read it again. I got faked out too. If I remember correctly the SOC Manager says the agents supervisor said the Agent was sorry. He said that while trying to get the Airlines permission to fly the agent to Texas the next day. Recall American banned the agent for life. Whether the agent ever said he was sorry is pure speculation. I dont know. Neither do you.

The simple fact is, this guy headed straight to an attorney.....like an arrow. He lost ALL credibility with me when he did that. If a man in that position can't solve his own problems he has NO business being there.

I have a feeling that the lawyers came to him. Likely wrong for him to accept their counsel but he did need a lawyer. How is he supposed to solve his own problem when American Airlines that has 35-40% of all domestic flights banned him from ever flying American again and filed a complaint with the secret service.

No I was laughing at you and poking fun at your arrogance.

At least I'm humble enough to respect the authority of the Captain and crew of any flight I'm about to board.

I am assuming he lied because;

a. He failed to fill out the paperwork properly 3 times (admitted)
b. He immediately went to a private attorney when he's employed by the govt. and has access to the justice department who would have ROASTED American Airlines if they discriminated.
c. His behavior in this entire incident has been distinctly unprofessional. Ignore the things AA claims and just look at what's been admitted.

You've been around these threads long enough to know my postings and you know there is no way I'm going to judge him because of his nationality. If he was professional, he would have been a little upset about the delay, but he would have respected the captain's right to make the call. As someone employed by the USSS he surely should have recognized the Captain was being cautious and should have contacted his supervisor and had the situation straightened out, and just caught the next flight. The failure to sign the application on the third try was the kicker for me. This guy lost his temper (a perfectly reasonable reaction) and then ran straight for an attorney.

SINKSPUR: Supposedly, the guy apologized to the SOC Manager from American for his tirade, but then, I guess, must have reconsidered his apology.

From 01-04-2002, Security agent, airline offer conflicting stories

In another statement, the unnamed manager of American's System Operations Control Center in Fort Worth said that he spoke with the agent by telephone. "He [the agent] admitted to not properly filling out the paperwork for carrying a weapon; not once, but twice," the manager said. "He also admitted to losing his temper with the captain because he was asked for his ID five separate times."

The same group has brought bias lawsuits against the Denny's restaurant chain, Circuit City Stores Inc., the U.S. Labor Department and the CIA.

Uh re-read the SOC report (further up this thread). He spoke to the agent who admitted losing his temper. He later spoke to the agent's supervisor (after he had been banned from any further flight) and the supervisor admitted the agent lost his temper. At that time the SOC recinded his ban and the agent was allowed to board the next flight out.

Oh, I'm sorry. You played the Nazi card, and hence you lose.

Another one here, One Particular Harbor, probably will also. He has experience at this.

And he works for the executive branch of the United States government and there are thousands of DOJ attornies who would have roasted AA alive. This guy just doesn't think things through.

The point I've been making throughout this entire thread is this guy has shown poor judgement time after time. He has NO business guarding the POTUS.

That being said, what kind of a USSS agent tries to board a flight with BOTH a) a gun and b) less than immaculate paperwork??. Forget AA's behavior for a moment, that agent is a bloody boob. If he can't be bothered to ensure that his paperwork is perfect then he darn well ought to have hiss happy heinie fired.

YO, when he boarded the flight his paperwork was properly filled out. When he got bumped to another flight because of a mechanical problem, he went to the flight personnel at the gate. They did not have another form and Airline personnel crossed out the flight number for him and replaced it with the new flight #, etc. and passed it back to him to give to the captain. That was unaceptable to the captain and somehow the airline was then able to come up with additional copies of the form. He didnt sign one of the forms and rather than tell him to sign it, the captain had him fill out another. The dispute was not over whether he was who he said he was but over who had the bigger ego.

On the American Website the SOC manager stated that the Agents supervisor said he was sorry.

I stand corrected.

However, I'm sure this apology would have ended the whole deal......but.....CAIR, which is on hair-trigger-alert for any hint that an Arab might be inconvenienced or singled-out after 9/11, no doubt went to this agent and hustled him into the booty line at Relman and Associates.

Look, we've all gotten into heated exchanges and said things we wish we hadn't. Typically, these are resolved by cool heads later in the day or the next day.

But the agent CHOSE to escalate this into literally a Federal issue. Why in the world would American Airlines, which is already targeted by terrorists, want to provoke the innocent Arabs and every liberal interest group by taking a public stand like this?

They were pushed to the wall by a bunch of civil rights pimps who are using a high profile professional to score points in their mythical battle against discrimination.

All because somebody got their feathers ruffled.

As Patton said when he slapped the soldier, I'm sure the pilot wished "he'd kissed the SOB."

Is this guy what you call an ambulance chaser?

Testing by The Equal Rights Center has uncovered a pattern and practice of discrimination by Consolidated Stores Corp. d/b/a KB Toys against African-Americans in the Greater Washington and Baltimore metropolitan area. Plaintiffs are represented by John Relman, Esq., Relman and Associates and Jeffrey D. Robinson, Esq. of Baach, Robinson and Lewis.

Just how many lives do you think Dave S would be willing to sacrifice upon the altar of Political Correctness? Would 300 be sufficient? Or 3,000? Or 3,000,000?

I don't know, but I am sure happy Dave S is not a pilot.
