I believe the Bible is 100% accurate in every detail.

I don't believe that we can ever fully comprehend the mind of G-d using imperfect language and our imperfect interpretations.

I also believe that you need to remember the genre of the writing as well as the historical context. For example, one passage talks about the sun standing still. We all know the sun doesn't revolve around the earth. Anti-Bible types like to attack that one. But anti-Bible types will still talk about sunrise. That's because it's our convention and it's easier.

I know there are problems with what science has found about the age of the universe and what some Biblical scholars say about it. I believe those will be reconciled before too long. Both sides need to be a little less dogmatic and a little more open to differing schools of thought, but G-d's truth will out.

I voted with 100% accurate in every detail, although that's not exactly the way I would phrase it. I would say it is 100% true. But that was the best option. This morning that was running at about 38%. Between options 1 and 2, the "essential truth" of the Bible is running at about 72%.

Thanks for the ping!

Shalom

I haven't had time to read through all the replies to whatever your questions may be; however, I can comment generally on the few I have read. You seem to have at least one question about translation: despite the fact that the original scriptural texts were not written in English, and the Bible is a compilation of the various texts written in at least several languages, reading the scriptures as a God-given, God-inspired Book, takes faith. If it is read as a college text or another mythology, one lacks the faith required to gain from it all that God would intend. Nevertheless, God's Word shall not come away empty and He will still leave an impression on the most skeptical reader. That is the power of God's spoken, and written, Word.

With the exception of John 1:1? [how many times does God have to repeat himself before one should believe it]   Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Here is a situation where Jesus claimed divinity, but his hearers did not believe him: John 8:57: Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58: Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59: Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

It upset those people that heard (and disbelieved) Jesus so much that they immediately wanted to stone him because they knew at that moment he was claiming to be God.  Was Jesus lying to them?  They did not misunderstand what he intended to say to them:  Exodus 3:13 & 14: And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Regarding Matthew 10:28.... And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. [everlasting destruction--see below]
Hebrews 10:30: For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31: It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
In Mark 3:29 Jesus said damnation was eternal.
In Matthew 23:33 Jesus warned the scribes and Pharisees of the damnation of hell.
Matthew 25:41 Jesus spoke of everlasting fire, and in verse  46 he spoke of everlasting punishment.
II Thessalonians 1:8: In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Matthew 13:41: The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; [verse 42:] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
To teach a doctrine that there is no hell (i.e. eternal damnation, everlasting punishment) for those who do not obey God is to deliver a false doctrine of great comfort and encouragement to all who want to live in disobedience, and it is not supported by the scriptures. .  By the way, JeepInMazar answered your question very well.

Not all large brain creatures are/were land animals. Our time on earth has been only a small fraction of the time that earth has been habitable. Due to evolution, some prior living but now extinct humanoids may have had sufficient differences to not be exactly our species. The fragments of "Lucy" may be a precursor of us. Those who lived in jungle environments may not have left major evidence of their existence other than bones. It may be reasonable that some thinking creatures had soft skeletons that were biodegradable, which gets us back to the sea from where likely all life began. Between now and when the sun becomes a giant red, considering the rare meteors that could cause life to disappear, we may be only one of many species who had the capacity to question their existence. The evolution of religions from the Platonic days shows how crazy logic can be. My inclusion of prior species may have been a stretch but who really knows? Thank you for your post.

Wonderfully said! The scriptures do the talking! Like I said in earlier posts, their minds are warped. They cannot see God in these verses. Their minds are closed. They will not address all those verses you have posted. I've seen them take the word "soul" in Genesis 2:7 and run to Strongs concordance to change it to "spirit". They do not believe man is a trinity, a body, a soul and a spirit. Even though Paul states so in I Thess. 5:23. They do not believe God is a trinity even though its stated in I John 5:7-8. They remove the end of that whole chapter. Praise God for His Holy Scriptures!!!!

But the translations were not perfect. There are many factual differences b/w versions/translations of the bible through time. So if you take EVERYTHING literaly... which version is more LITERAL that another.... Perhaps you just mean that the ideas are literal truth but not necessarily every nuance and word?

Every detail is literally true. 38%
Some details may be inaccurate or exaggerated, but the fundamentals are true. 34%
The Bible is fundamentally fiction, incorporating some historical facts. 25%

I believe that it is 100% accurate and literal that many of those who proclaim that the bible is 100% accurate and literal... feel that way because it makes them feel holier... regardless of the truth. I also believe that there is a direct correlation to an individual's education and intelligence and their view that the bible is 100% accurate and literal or not. Have fun!... attack at will!

>>>>>It may be reasonable that some thinking creatures had soft skeletons that were biodegradable, <<<<<< Is that the excuse now for no intermediate fossils? Your whole post is a little outdated. They don't even teach Lucy was a intermediate anymore. Lucy is (thanks to DNA)an ORANGATAN) You haven't been to college lately have you? We know now DNA cannot evolve. It has to be CREATED. Your arguments haven't been taught in universities for the past 10 years or so. Its all quantom now. Because of the advent discovery of DNA those evolving arguments have no foundation now. They are teaching quantom physics and quantom leaps. DNA being manipulated in earths past (some even teaching by extrateretrials). The LAWS of Biogenesis cannot be broken (life comes from life) and the LAWS of thermodynamics cannot be broken (the second law being entropy, EVERYTHING WHERES DOWN, DEVOLVES!) You have bought into the lies of the media and pagan dreamers that have to change their "science" every couple of years because they are just living in a disney enviroment. Without God and without hope.

There are no originals. If you think there are, then where can someone lay there hands on these "originals"?

You've just gone against about every scientific discovery and theory in the last century!!!! Personally, though I think its obvious that evolution as a phenomenon is real... the evidence is just too overwhelming. However, it may be that evolution only accounts for a small part of the changes that have occurred in creatures. It handles the small details while G-d controls the large scale evolution... I guess that's called directed evolution.

Considering the fact that the bible itself doesn't use the term "day" in Genesis (as K James did... which was in error) but rather "period of time" there is/was certainly "time" for G-d to use evolution as his technique just as he uses All of nature (which was created by him) to affect his will.

>>>>>>Everything good in our modern age, we owe to people using science and reason.<<<<<<< Is that so...has all this GOOD in our modern society brought every closer the LORD JESUS CHRIST? Has it brought man closer to the TRUTH? Or is this all to get our attention away from the Living God to ourselves...

Really? How is that? I believe in G-d... I also believe G-d doesn't play dice with the Universe (Einstein) . He set up the laws of nature and physics for a reason. Every aspect of the universe was created by him... including the mechanism of evolution. To G-d instant creation in a flash of light and a billion year evolution process aren't much different. If you think about it... to G-d a billion years is nothing. Its all a matter of perspective.
