I know this isn't the most PC of titles, but I couldn't think of anything better to describe what I'm going to talk about. I'm going to try and take a personal story of legal racism that happened to me, and intertwine that with the Dan Issel, Cracker Barrel, and Toyota stories.
I own and run a security firm in Virginia with three other guys. We've recently been trying to expand and were about to sign a deal with a rather large company in Richmond, this would have been huge for a firm of our size and I was already celebrating and looking for overly expensive Christmas gifts for my wife. Well it fell through, apparently the guys who were about to ink the deal with us got the message from higher ups in the company that they ought to sign with a minority firm. I can't give any details because nothing's final yet; but all signs point to the fact that we're going to lose out because we're 4 white guys competing with a firm run by Hispanics. I repeat, we're going to lose a lot of money- because we're white.
Dan Issel is the coach of the Denver Nuggets. In an altercation with a fan he called him a friggin Mexican (only he didn't say friggin). They had a guy from some Hispanic group on the O'Reilly Factor tonight. Not only does his group want Issel fired, but they want the Nuggets orginization to hire more Hispanics and do more work with Hispanic media. Now we're in a recession right now, companies aren't exactly hiring people right now. If the Nuggets cave and start to hire Hispanics, who do you think is going to be first in line to get fired?; you got it, white folk, they're going to be fired to make room for Hispanics, all so the Nuggets can say look at how diverse we are, please don't sue us.
Toyota just gave Jesse Jackson 700 million dollars so that he will not brand their corporation racist.
The Cracker Barrel is currently being sued for 100 million dollars for claims that they are racist to black customers. No proof, just the world of black customers against the word of Cracker Barrel management. I'd guess that the odds are very favorable that the black customers will win this lawsuit.
All of the engineers claimed to be African American (not black!), even the token white engineer said he was of African decent.
Now comes the good part. They failed to meet some milestones in the development process. The PR firm had a meeting and told them to get back on track, or they would not get the rest of the prototype money ($40k)- they had not met the project milestones.
2 weeks later, the minority engineering company sent a letter written by their lawyer that the PR firm must pay the remaining money or face a discrimination lawsuit.
The PR firm's owner just laughed and threw the letter away. The schedule was documented and signed - the engineers had missed the milestones - plain and simple.
It sucks the engineers pulled the race-card.
Jesse and Al have taught thousands of minorities these tactics of coercion!
As I watched this, I turned to my wife, and said this guy sounds like Jesse Jackson.
Ouch! Did you have to hit so hard?
And now, the big fight is over which of the preferred racial groups, the latino or blacks, will get the biggest share of the racial spoil system..
Remember the white radical leftist america hating scum in America has fought to keep our borders wide open allowing an invasion of millions of illegal mexicans and other third world America hating scum to cross our border.. All these illegals are entitled to affirmative action special treatment over native born Whites for govt hiring, for govt welfare handouts, for govt contracts, and for public university school admissions. And just let some private business try to fire an affirmative action employee and all hell breaks loose from the white radical leftist america hating scum in America. <P.
Every absurd law we have, every piece of favoritism that DOES exist in business and the workplace, was passed by a bunch of mostly white guys trying to pimp themselves to a constituency. A constituency that has by this time learned they can get more simply by threatening their neighbors or whining to the wimps we continue to elect. A constituency that has the media firmly on their side because the media both grew up watching the process work and is also stroking a constituency (liberals and self interest groups such as MALDEF et al).
Only ourselves to blame - but it still sucks.
I disagree, he didn't start it for one, it was the other guy taunting him first. Those jerks who call themselves fans who over-drink and shout out comments know full well they are likely to have something shouted back. The "fan" should be banned from attending a certain number of games too because he did start the trouble.
Yes you are right. Here where I live discrimination is completely legal as long as it's discrimination for Spanish speakers from Mexico. Speaking English can't be a job requirement but they actually can post as a job requirement that Spanish fluency is required. It's even legal to deny blacks jobs because they aren't as fluent in Spanish as someone from Mexico is. We had a Cuban boss try to have English spoken at our work place and they accused him of being a racist.
However, it was fine for Bowman to take out his anger on Issel!!!
How right you are! A few years ago I needed to purchase a bunch of expensive equipment to gear up for a contract I had won. Got turned down for an SBA loan. Changed the company from a sole-proprietorship (me) to a S Corp (51% wife, 49% me). Sent wife with exact same business plan to a different bank. Bang, instant financing.
