SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - After a number of embarrassing mishaps that have left some members of this city's Board of Supervisors screaming for answers, the Department of Elections will try again Tuesday to get it right during a runoff election.

This from the city that brought us Prop F and I---ballot measures that would have had the city take over power from PG&E.

They can't even run an election with less than 25% voter turnout.

This is a major imposition on the voters. I would urge all black voters to strike and not vote in this election unless they were paid twice as much as last election, each time they vote. The illegal Mexican voters don't get an increase, however, but will get an opportunity to vote more frequently in this election. There will be no ballot boxes fould floating in the bay this time, Brown's people will weight them down.

Well, San Francisco has two parties. Left-wing Democrats are the city's "moderates" (and ballot-tampering experts). The Communists, or progressives, as they call themselves, propose a lot of radical legislation but they aren't as skilled at political corruption so they usually lose.

Republicans? Those few that live here are Riordanesque...and still reviled as fascists.

I heard that in a past election on some proposal, perhaps the one to oust dotcom businesses from buying up property, that more votes were cast than registered voters. SF politics is dirtier than Chicago or Moscow. I'm sure several thousand homeless will cast votes today.

This is all just outrageous. We are no better some Third World Countries in this light. Someone cracked a joke, whether it was here or on tv, that pretty soon we'll need someone like Jimmy Carter overseeing OUR elections. Why aren't the election fraud laws enforced? Yes, the GOP is completely invisible here. You know you're in trouble when the most conservative politician in town is Willie Brown. And, yet, there are a few tiny sparks of hope. The attempt to socialize the City's power system was defeated (barely) in the last election.
