Sen. Majority Leader Tom Daschle said Thursday he expected Democrats to oppose President Bush if Bush decides to go after Iraq's Saddam Hussein, who many terrorism experts believe financed and helped train hijackers for Osama bin Laden's 9/11 attacks on the U.S.
Daschle, appearing on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes," predicted that Democrats would publicly turn against the president as soon as they disagreed with his management of the war effort.
ALAN COLMES: You've been very supportive of the president and the way this war's being conducted. At what point do you think, could you see Democrats taking issue with some of the way the war might be conducted? For example, if there's a foray into Iraq or expansion of the war, can you see a time when there's less agreement on Capitol Hill?
DASCHLE: Oh, absolutely. Obviously, we got into quite a bit of disagreement about foreign policy last summer. But that is because we disagreed. Right now I think the administration is doing the kind of job that warrants agreement, that warrants support. (End of Excerpt)
But despite his clear statement that he would "absolutely" oppose any foray into Iraq, moments later the top Democrat seemed to hedge his bets.
COLMES: If they go after Saddam Hussein, if that's the next step, will you be against that? Will there be more dissention about that?
DASCHLE: Well, I don't want to get into hypothetical situations at this point, Alan. I don't think it's very productive. Obviously we're going to take each call one at a time. We'll make our decisions - support those that we can support and oppose those that we're going to be required to oppose.

According to SoreLooserman last night on Fox he will support and is indeed pushing the administration to go after Sadam.

"They won't oppose evidence."They did during impeachment, what makes you think they'd change now?

You heard right. Sounded like he was pushing for it.
Of course he's pushing for it.... warmonger Joe the pious turd might get a blister from beating his war drums, but other than that he's as safe as a lamb.
It's also in Israel's best interest for America soldiers to attack Iraq, with any consequnces for Americans a non concern for the likes of Joey.

Nothing like giving aid and comfort to the enemy AND announcing it ahead of time. They showed their true colors with the Senator Leaky fishing expedition when the same people were more concerned about the rights of foreigners than they were about the rights of our military to vote in Florida. Military tribunals are good enough for American military personnel but not good enough for the precious illegal immigrant wing of the dimocrat party.

"According to SoreLooserman last night on Fox he will support and is indeed pushing the administration to go after Sadam."Yes.
O'Reilly asked him, "What of those who say, 'Where is the evidence against him?' What say you?"
Lieberman said the proof is indeed there and sited several things. First on his list was Saddam's attempted assassination of President (G)Bush.
He also mentioned use of Bio-weapons on his own people, and his close ties with OBL.
It's gonna happen - Daschle is behind the curve

I'd like to see some research on how many times Daschole and the rest of the Dems, during the first Bush Presidency, said on camera that he should have taken Saddam down when he had the chance. Also, if it is politically expedient for the Dems to oppose him (aka polling data), they will. If not, they won't. It all comes down to polling data with the Dems. How nice it is to have a real leader as our President who doesn't give a rat's patooty about polls. I love "W"!

Now I know that we are all told not to question the patriotism of DemocRATS. But, still, every time I read or hear these kinds of statements I keep coming back to the same question: Do these people love their country?
Personally, I think their true colors are showing--and the colors aren't red, white, and blue!

You almost gave me a heart attack! I thought the title was "Dems will BACK Bush on Iraq Attack. I was ready to get a weather report in Hell, as it must have frozen over. Jeeze!

This is an appropriate time for Zell Miller to bolt.
To: GotDangGenius
This is an appropriate time for Zell Miller to bolt.Bush needs to back Daschle into a corner with this first. It's not clear-cut enough yet.
I agree though. This is an opportunity to grab the Senate back.
To: BARGE
The Dems will support anyone who is an enemy of Bush/America. Sad, isn't it?

"With dim Lieberman being the strongest proponent of going after Iraq, it's gonna be interesting!" Lieberman was on the tube last night stating that he definitely supports popping Iraq's Hussein. Good for him.
As for DELUSIONAL Daschle, he needs to review the different tapes from 9-11...
...watch very closely as the poor folks tumbled through the air on their way downward towards the cement - and then get back with us. (silly DELUSIONAL Daschle, Please!)

"This is an opportunity to grab the Senate back." And of course, while typing my above about how Daschle is delusional - I, you and all readers - fully realize that cunning Daschle - in the back of his mind - is using this just war to benefit the Democrat party. Filthy miserable - cunning slimebag Daschle!

You're right.
Watching Congressman Harold Ford (Jr?) on Fox - he seems pretty hot to go after Saddam.
Hmm...Daschle doesn't have as tight a leash on his party as he thinks he does.
To: Lazamataz
And we usually do, too, especially in their rank-and-file. Democrat leaders can commit any number of crimes and the Democrats whistle merrily -- and maybe a little insanely -- as they pull that Good Ole Democratic Voting Lever...An excellent example of Churchill's Commentary on Man: "Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue as though nothing has happened".
