Who was in Israel first, the Jews or Palestinians

Posted on 12/05/2001 7:50:45 PM PST by 100American

Here are 20 conveniently overlooked facts that give some perspective to the current Middle East situation. These were compiled by a Christian university professor..... Takes just 1.5 minutes to read!!!

1. Israel became a nation in 1312 B.C.E., two thousand years before the rise of Islam.

2. Arab refugees began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 B.C.E, the Jews had dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.

4.The only Arab domination since the conquest in 635 C.E. lasted no more than 22 years.

5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 hundred times in Bible. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.

7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.

9. Arab and Jewish refugees: Arabs were not driven out of their homes. Following the UN decision on Partition in 1948, the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders, promising to purge the land of Jews. They argued that an "Arab presence" would only get in the way of the planned devastation. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier.

10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.

11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees absorbed by Israel from Arab countries is estimated to be the same.

12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own peoples'lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.

13. The Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.

14. The P.L.O.'s Charter still calls for the destruction of the state of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank and autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied their police and security forces with weapons.

15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Jewish grave markers were used to build public urinals in occupied Jerusalem. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.

16. The U.N. record on Israel and the Arabs of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel -- notwithstanding the fact that the Arabs refused to participate in the 15 nation United Nations Commission of Palestine which recommended partition in 1948 and sought immediately to undo its work by force of arms.

17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.

18. The U.N. was silent while 58 Jerusalem Synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians between 1948 and 1967.

19. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives between 1948 and 1967.

20. The U.N. was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like policy of preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall between 1948 and 1967.

If you knew anything about the archaeological and historic record of the region, you wouldn't have come up with such utter tripe. When the "Arabs" took over Jerusalem by force from the Byzantine Greeks, the rubble of the second Jewish temple had already lain scattered on the Temple Mount for more than 500 years. I suppose you consider Josephus and other Roman era historians as mythical too.

With reference to SOLOMON: At the southern end of the Gulf of Aqabba, the place where Moses led the Israelites across the Red Sea, there were two pillars dedicated to Solomon, placed there by the king of his Phonecian ally, commemorating the Red Sea crossing. Ron Wyatt found these; one on the Egyptian side and one on the Saudi Arabian side back in the 80's. Pictures and videos were taken, but the respective countries have since removed these artifacts. They are now in museums At this very spot is an underwater land bridge, and a large debris field of Egyptian chariots some with and some without wheels, some common and some gilded. This is the true crossing point of the Exodus, and Mt. Horeb (Sinai} is truly in Arabia. The evidence is there and now is hevily guarded by the Saudi govt.

The article you link in post 95 is one of several linked from the second article I posted above: The Biblical Minimalists: Expunging Israel's Past. That article mentions the allegations of Professor Davies - which you appear to support - and counter allegations against his credentials.

Moreover, the article suggests Davies' attack was directed to the motives of the archeologists and played into the subsequent work of Keith Whitelam.

In the end, the author asserts - as do I - that politics should have no part in scholarly efforts.

Here we go again! It was the Romans who crucified Christ. When Christ declared himself King of the Jews it was not only a religious statement, but a very political one as well. He had just assured his crucifiction as a political threat to Rome's Political power in the area. Jesus must have been very aware of what he was doing.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I like this sentence....Twice in the last few days I have heard/seen it used. First, was by the our great SOD, Donald Rumsfeld. I have also enjoyed this post. Thanks everyone for a great discussion.

Genetics prove that Jews and Palestinians are descended from common ancestors. There is very little difference between them. They should share the land in peace.

Unfortunately, family fights are often the worst.  I think a good case that the Europeans have suffered the most damage from Europeans, Africans from Africans, Arabs from Arabs, and etc.

Bull. There is very substantial ethnic, to say nothing of religious, difference between the so called Pallies, who really are Egyptian Arabs, and the Jews.

Genetically disproven. You view is simply self serving wishful thinking.

"You aren't the first person I have met on the internet to call me 'shady.' You are now another member of an exclusive fan-club designed to dispell truth."

If it's really that exclusive then I want to join too; Shady.

Can I also call you Slim-Shady? Or even the Real Slim-Shady?

That's why there will be no peace in the middle east, till the the anti-christ shows up.......

Egads! The Sink Emperor already had his shot (so to speak) at trying to force a peace down their throats, and I hope he doesn't try it again!

>The Jews were oritinally from what is now known as Iraq.

Actually, there were no Jews until much later.

A group of Hebrews (of which there were/are many variations) migrated from Iraq to Palestine. As the 12 Sons of (Jacob)/Israel they later migrated to Egypt. As the 12 Tribes of the 12 Sons they migrated back to Palestine where they couldn't get along with each other so split up into the Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom.

The very large Northern Kingdom, under Ephriam, also known as the House of Israel, was made up of all the tribes except Judah, Levi and part of Benjamin. It was taken into captivity by the Assyrians to the fertile crescent area ~722BC, and later, as a group of over 5 Million Israelites escaped and migrated north through the Caucasus mountains, to appear in history as the Celts. These Celts became a huge population, eventally overrunning small local tribes and are the root stock of todays Europeans and Americans.

The smaller Southern Kingdom was made up of the Tribes of Judah & Levi plus part of Benjamin. It was also called the House of Judah, and it's residents called Jews.

European/American Whites and Jews look so much alike because they are cousins.

Facts?

Those lame assertions don't even qualify as fairy tales.

Another pathetic attempt at smoke and mirrors by the Muslim/Arabprop Tag Team.
