UD has several deficiencies, but praise God for UD and its patriotic students.
The only point that I'd disagree with is that the left is not only still in place, but in fact, runs the place. The Academe, the press, the entertainment industry and the Democrat party are firmly controlled by the extreme, McGovern left. So far as the "culture war" stands, we've lost. I'm not a defeatist, I think that people are waking up and starting to realize just how bad it is.
Notice that nothing was done about the Administration officials at ASU who opposed displaying the flag.
The primary purpose of a college president is to raise funds. This guy almost lost $1 million in alumni donations, and he's still in charge. It just goes to show that in the public sector, leftist ideological purity trumps administrative competence.
Where have you been? This kind of anti-American crap has been happening on college campuses for years.
IS THE DORM IN THE UNITED STATES?...SCREW'EM!!...SHEESH!
Next it will be NO US FLAGS anywhere...wouldn't want to be insensitive to all foriegn tourists, now would we?.....EF'M ALL...and the insane arseholes that run most of the acadamie in our G-d Blessed Country...the USofA!
FMCDH
When I read this article some thing spring out:
insensitive to all the international students that live in the dorm
Then what the hell these people do in the US? If they hate it, why do they come over? If they don't like the flag that represents the freedom that the US gives to it's inhabitants, they should leave now instead of forbidding Americans to be proud of their nation. How can anyone even try to stop people from feeling proud of their own nation in their own nation?
The removal of the American flag from a campus bus was enforced at Lehigh University. Vice Provost John Smeaton's decision was to promote "understanding." The school's newspaper, The Brown and White, supported the ban by bringing up seemingly irrelevant issues such as Muslim heritage and Arab Americans making contributions to society.
This is the biggest piece of cr@p I have read in weeks! They talk of "understanding" and muslim heritage (tolerance?), but they forbid others the display of their heritage, the US heritage! And what muslim heritage? Do they mean the terrorism that is supported by many muslim nations (Iraq, Iran, Libia, Syria, Saudi-Arabia, Sudan, Indonesia, Afghanistan and so on), or the rights non-muslims or woman have in these countries? No, the real reason for them to hate and burn the US flag is that they hate the things it stands for, freedom for all, justice for all, equality, freedom of speech and religion.
To all the people that want to ban the US flag: many have fought and died defending it. If you cannot appreciate the sacifice they made to make you live in freedom, you are not worth fighting for!
To all Americans who are proud of living in such a fine land:
OUR FLAG STILL STANDS FOR FREEDOM AND NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT AWAY!
Simply amazing! These tyrants are simple and ignorant.
The internatonal students that live in the dorm are residing in the US. They can expect to see the American flag on gov buildings, post offices, schools, and anywhere else an American chooses to fly one.
If they are offended by the flying of the American flag on American soil then they are welcome to vacate said soil at their earliest opportunity.
I don't know what nationality that name is, but damn if we don't have a foreigner in our country, being more Patriotic than some born-here Americans!
I'd love to go shake Oubai Shahbandar's hand. He's a real American. Stood up for the flag, fought the college liberal system and won.
We sure could use a few more like him. :)
Texas A&M is is one of the most conservative campuses in the country. If the author is throwing Texas A&M into the story, there must be more to it than is being stated.
Does anyone know the the rest of the story?
American history should be taught accurately, not in a positive light. Same goes for every other subject. We already have enough idiots here.
I know, I know . . . but that doesn't mean I understand it . . . I still say it's tyranical behavior !!!
