Surgeon General: CDC Labs a 'National Disgrace' SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters Health) - US Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher said that the United States should be ``ashamed of the condition of the laboratories at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.'' The labs are out-of-date and poorly equipped, he said, ``and these are laboratories that are relied upon around the world.''
Satcher, who held an impromptu press briefing at the American Medical Association House of Delegates meeting here, said ``the laboratories had no power for 15 hours during the early days'' of the anthrax bioterrrorism attacks.
Satcher, who previously served as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said the whole US public health system needs an infusion of cash. ``I support the proposal by Senators Frist and Kennedy to boost the public budget by $3.2 billion.'' The Bush administration is asking for an increase of $1.5 billion.
Beyond problems at CDC headquarters, Satcher said that all public health labs--state and local--need to be re-tooled and updated. ``There are local public health labs that don't have fax machines, that have no computers so they cannot receive e-mail updates,'' he said.
Moreover, Satcher said, ``We need to train more epidemiologists. It's my understanding that there are 10 states that have no trained epidemiologists in their health departments.''
Satcher, who is a member of the AMA House of Delegates, was a featured speaker during a session on bioterrorism.
The effectiveness of CDC was destroyed by X42 to protect two of his biggest voting blocs and to advance bad data for another voting bloc!
CDC's main historical mission was to identify the pathogens causing dangerous and/or the potential of massive infections, trace the vectors (who brought in the infectious diseases and then spread them throughout the general population.) Once the vectors were identified to treat them with the drugs of choice or keep them isolated not to spread the disease they carried!
X42 and the left wing extremist could not have an effective CDC to investigated and track aids, by detecting who was spreading the virus and who had the virus. Since there is no treatment available for Aids this made the CDC's mission a no go for the left wingers and Clintoon. The homosexual group is one of the largest $ supporters of the demonicRat and one of the most outspoken. So standards of infectious disease became a joke. Doctor offices and clinics have to report a case of GC that can be cured with a small injection of Rocephin. Yet they can't identify a person/vector with aids to find out how it was spread. There is no cure for Aids. It kills all who develop aids!
The next group that could not stand up to standards of infectious disease control was/is the illegal aliens. Because of where they come from, illegal aliens often carry TB, hepatitis and really virulent infectious diseases. Phsyical exams were stopped on legal aliens to detect the presence of dangerous infectious diseases. Of course there is no real way to screen for dangerous infectious disease in illegal aliens. They just go to work as food handlers, kitchen help and as waiters/waitresses!
The final group where massive amount of money were wasted were Hilldebeasts and the demonicRats "Seize our guns crowd". They took the stats of children killed with firarms and extend the age up to 20. Then everyone killed by a gang member was labeled as a child killed accidentally or murdered by an evil gun. So the so called statisticians at CDC lied and covered up the massive killings by gang members and labeled them as murder victims or accidental victims. Many times the so call child victim was a gang member who got killed in a gang gun battle. He became a child murdered by evil guns. Our Bang list people like T-Shirt can get the data on these lies the past 8 years by CDC.
So from 1993 to Feb 2001, CDC was de balled and derailed re it real mission to identify an infectious disease agent, then identify the spreaders, and then to control those vectors/spreaders until treated properly. The big gun control lies wasted more money. Last but not least CDC became a cess pool of affirmative action and diversity goals.
In todays world of jet travel and Islamic Terrorists and our home grown terrorists, we need a well organized and mission driven CDC.
Fire this clymer and bring dozens of University Heads of Infectious Disease and Pathologists who deal with infectious diseases on loan to clean up the infections in the staff of CDC. Develop a real mission statement. Then everyone who works for CDC offers a letter of resignation that is good for up two years. Then the outside Doctors and their assistants can fire the affirmative action/diversity queens and their underlings. Give them a years pay with benefits just get them out of the system. Fire everyone associated with the phoney gun issue!
Then work with the directors of Infectious Diseases at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval and their pathologists to creat job profiles of whom is needed and what skills are needed. Hire these people at competitive wages with the understanding that they work at the option of the various dept. head, no more government job for life! They produce or get fired like in real life!
Last but not least all dangerous organisms must be either destroyed by professionals or sent to FT. Deterick to be kept safe! Nothing is safe in Atlanta!

Some of these same individuals have research used in the state of California to argue public health policy. One such policy (apparently overturned through the heroic efforts of Dr. Tim Wheeler at Claremont Institute) was to mandate that ANY primary care physician in California had to specifically inquire with each family regarding (1) ownership of guns, (2) type of weapon, (3) storage method of the gun, and (4) encourage use of gun locks. This mandate was such that if a physician chose not to engage in this discussion, he could be stripped of the right to participate in any government financed healthcare. Furthermore, the physicians were obligated to record in the medical record the answers to the gun ownership questions. The records were capable of being reviewed by state and local authorities for improper storage the weapon.
Liberal bureaucrats from a major health insurance company personally intimidated me with this effort and attempted to tell me that if we wanted to provide care under Medi-Cal, that they would return to my little office to review these records.
My response was to politely kick them out of my office. I have yet to provide care for patients under Medi-Cal, and it pains me because I know many families require gov't assistance for that care. However, I will not kowtow my independent judgement to this kind of unconstitutional state authority.
To choose to take gov't funds essentially weakens our office. To do so invites these foul-mouthed liberals into a controlling position over my medical decisions.
It is HIGH TIME for conservatives to take back control of health care from these Klinton-loving bastards.
