Edited on 04/13/2004 2:39:06 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

With Bill Clinton back on the political stage, why should the American people be denied their choice of chief executive? Why should a 22nd amendment passed by Republicans to get even with Franklin Roosevelt stop 21st century Americans from having the president we want?

Although I think this was originally published a few months ago, it's pretty hilarious reading it now!

Chris has been out in the sun too long. That's hard to accomplish at the end of November.

but still think this country could stand a jolt of pure democracy right now.

I guess Chris forgot the Founders established a Federal Republic instead of a democracy and the American people were not supposed to vote directly for POTUS in the first place.

This actually was published on August 5th of this year, but Matthews' stupidity bears repeating.

How stupid was it? Matthews printed this when Klinton's approval ratings were in the 30's.

Either Matthews is running out of things to write about, or the S.F. Chronicle is running out of things to print. This article was actually posted by Matthews on MSNBC about four months ago.

Anything with Bill, Hillary or Clinton in the title doesn't need a barf alert. It's common knowledge :-)

That's why he won twice....

I wonder how many other two-term presidents carried less than 50 percent of the vote both times.

Chris Matthews screams incoherently even when he's writing. Shut up, already, Chris.

Mr. Matthews continues to amaze...

He can't really believe this drivel, he must be saying it just to stir up controversy and generate some publicity for himself. He can't be THAT stupid, can he???

As far as the 2-term President goes, it was George Washington, not the Republicans, who came up with the idea. It wasn't until a power-hungry ego-maniac Democrat decided that the wisdom of George Washington didn't apply to him that an actual law had to be created.

This DINGBAT piece of feces couldn't have written itself. That means SOMEBODY had to write it. But Matthews (the NOBODY) has outdone himself on this one. This is the pettiest, whiniest, silliest piece of DRECK that has ever been put up on the Free Republic board sinc I have been a member.

Dear JeanS: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add the "MAJOR, SPEWING, HOT, GREEN AND SLIMY BARF ALERT" to all future posts from this saggital-ridged, knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing troglodyte in the future. Make room for some comptetition, Dershowitz. Here comes a major-league challenge for the "FLYING RABID LIBERAL SPITTLE" warning. < /rant >

Chris Matthews is certifiably loony. I say that with all sincerity because he truly doesn't realize how infantile he looks with all this slobber on his chin and shirt.

The logic of most of the comments Chris M. makes has the substance of steam. He has to be a liberal to tie things together the way he does, with such a teenage like mindset. Oh gee golly Chris would things be fun if bill clinton were in office. What a moron.

Shouldn't this be posted under Humor?

Please let this have been a joke...

And how, exactly, would passing the amendment "get even with" FDR? In those terms, it only served to make him into the 'legendary three-term President' of American history.

I don't buy that line. If the entire idea was to get even with FDR, then they'd have elected a Republican 3+ times.
