The guest list included famed pianist Van Cliburn, who once won a piano competition in Moscow and lives in Fort Worth. Golfer Ben Crenshaw was also attending. The Ranch Hands Band, a Texas swing band, would also provide some of the entertainment. Crawford, a tiny town outside Waco in central Texas, rolled out a homey welcome for the two leaders on Wednesday, with signs made by local school children decorating fence lines along the road into town. ``Texas says 'howdy' Russian Pres. Putin,'' said one banner. And not one Hollywood star, thank Heavens.

Nice article (surprising since it's Reuters). I don't know how to post photos either, but someone will, and soon!
Mrs. Putin is a linguist --- nothing will be missed by her! President Putin is learning English.

The dinner menu included such Texas favorites as Mesquite-smoked peppered beef tenderloin, southern fried catfish, fire-roasted potatoes with poblano peppers, old-fashioned green beans, and pecan pie. Makin' me hungry ...

President George W. Bush, Russian first lady Lyudmila Putin, Russian President Vladimir Putin and first lady Laura Bush walk together at the Bush ranch in Crawford, Texas November 14, 2001. Bush plans to treat Putin to Western-style entertainment and tour of his ranch, as well as follow up on their talks in Washington on a new strategic relationship. (Win McNamee/Reuters)

``We are ready to cooperate with NATO to the same extent that NATO is ready to cooperate with us,'' he said. ``This is in the interests of Russia and we are examining different options on this.''
Bring Russia into NATO, and give them a partnership with us in running it. Create the missile shield and let russia build one for herself. It is now time to build a strong relationship with Russia, and create an alliance that will be unbeatable. China is in the background and byding it's time. Time for the bear and the eagle to join forces and make sure that the Chinese stay where they are!!

Wouldn't you die for a pic of Putin in a 10 gallon hat, cowboy boots, and chaps?

A Marine One helicopter brought Putin and his wife to a helipad located on the ranch. Does anyone know where they land AF1? I'm curious if they ferry them from the Waco airport, the D/FW airport, or one of the military bases nearby (like Fort Hood).

I'm so proud to call this humble man "Our President", especially after 8 horrible, embarassing years of #42.
Clinton was the Great Divider...President Bush is the Great Uniter...God Bless Him.

And I will have a pickup truck... or possibly even a "recreational vehicle."

Imagine if Bubba were still in charge: He and Putin driving around Hot Springs in his carpeted ElCamino hitting the race track, bars, and brothels.

Excellent and unbelievable. (Reagan did such things, didn't he?) Start by getting these visiting foreign leaders away from that stinking DC swamp and the neighboring Camp David. This sends the message to the foreign leader and to the stinkers themselves polluting the air in DC. You ain't America!

In the future, whenever the media slaps around President Bush, all he has to do to get back at them is say "I feel like a trip to Crawford". They hate it there.

"Bush drives Putin to Texas Ranch in Truck"
Right out of the movies: Remember in "Red October" Sean Connery's First Officer wanted to defect to Montana and get him a pickup truck? Never heard of anyone wanting to move to Moscow and stand in line to get a loaf of bread.

Any truth to the rumor that they drove up on Ann Richards front lawn and tore it up?
The story goes that she came out to yell at them and W. dropped trou and mooned her while Putin winged a couple of Lone Star emties at her.

I have a question. If the United States wishes to notify the other signatory of the ABM treaty that the U. S. wishes to cancel the treaty, where do we send the letter?
For those who don't understand my question, does the Soviet Union still maintain an address?

Thanks for posting! They all looked wonderful, and obviously Putin's side did a lot of research into customs, traditions, etc. The yellow rose - very nice touch.
Who designed the menu? It's great! Not only does Bush have great speech writers, he has great chefs!
