The guest list included famed pianist Van Cliburn, who once won a piano competition in Moscow and lives in Fort Worth. Golfer Ben Crenshaw was also attending. The Ranch Hands Band, a Texas swing band, would also provide some of the entertainment. Crawford, a tiny town outside Waco in central Texas, rolled out a homey welcome for the two leaders on Wednesday, with signs made by local school children decorating fence lines along the road into town. ``Texas says 'howdy' Russian Pres. Putin,'' said one banner. And not one Hollywood star, thank Heavens.

Nice article (surprising since it's Reuters). I don't know how to post photos either, but someone will, and soon!
Mrs. Putin is a linguist --- nothing will be missed by her! President Putin is learning English.

The dinner menu included such Texas favorites as Mesquite-smoked peppered beef tenderloin, southern fried catfish, fire-roasted potatoes with poblano peppers, old-fashioned green beans, and pecan pie. Makin' me hungry ...

After years of all the elitism, it's nice to see a president that finally represents The Real America Ah, yes, the Clintons didn't have a home, did they? They lived in government housing.

Thanks for the photo. What a shame it's raining ... is this normal weather for Crawford TX this time of year?

``We are ready to cooperate with NATO to the same extent that NATO is ready to cooperate with us,'' he said. ``This is in the interests of Russia and we are examining different options on this.''
Bring Russia into NATO, and give them a partnership with us in running it. Create the missile shield and let russia build one for herself. It is now time to build a strong relationship with Russia, and create an alliance that will be unbeatable. China is in the background and byding it's time. Time for the bear and the eagle to join forces and make sure that the Chinese stay where they are!!

A Marine One helicopter brought Putin and his wife to a helipad located on the ranch. Does anyone know where they land AF1? I'm curious if they ferry them from the Waco airport, the D/FW airport, or one of the military bases nearby (like Fort Hood).

What a shame it's raining ... is this normal weather for Crawford TX this time of year? With the exception of summer, you really can't predict the weather for any significant amount of time.
The fronts come down from the north and collide with warm humid air from the Gulf of Mexico. It rains. Then it dries out until the next front comes through. The cycle repeats, with higher frequency in the spring (and some of those turn into nasty thunderstorms).
If they are staying for any amount of time, the weather will be nice (or at least nicer than Moscow this time of year) again in a few days.

Bush seems like a regular sort of guy...nice change of pace.

"Does anyone know where they land AF1?" It puts down in Waco, I believe. The airport there used to be an AFB, so it has reinforced runways.
