The guy that does George W. on Saturday Night Live was really funny. He did George W. and said:
"We're going to smoke him out of his hole. Then we're going to run him back in. Then we're going to run him back out and then run him back in. Why? Because its fun and we like it."

What?! Fierce Afghan fighters running away?! How are we to believe that? After all, they beat the British in 1839!

To: Walkin Man
That's the one! Thanks!
The one I was thinking about has your pic on the left,
another one on the right with gun pointed left, with a
pic of OBL in the middle!

That's the one! Thanks!heh heh
No problem, I thought that might be the picture you had in mind. I like your idea about putting bin-Laden in-between two of these pictures! Maybe with crosshairs across his ugly mug, eh?

Why is Bush warning the N.A. off Kabul? Something I've wondered for days - is Kabul reserved for another occupation force? It appears many Talicowards are headed south for Kandahar. Will a "neutral" muslim occupation force move into Kabul? Say Turks and Pakistanis?

Are we sure that this is not merely a tactic by the Taliban and al-Qaeda to lure the Northern Alliance into a trap, where they are caught in a murderous crossfire, after they have outrun their logistics?
This seems almost TOO easy.... Pardon my suspicions, but doesn't this kind of destroy the Order of Battle? Circle to the west, approach Kandalar from the south and west, and isolate the remnants of al-Qaeda in the mountains to the north of Kandalar.

I used to work for this colonel that would come up with the wildest malapropisms. We called them "Heil-isms" in his honor. During a meeting he'd toss out a "cease and exist" followed by a "that's where the rubber hits the beach." Hilarious, one just had to bite one's cheek and look at the floor until the urge to laugh passed.

i do not agree with bush's comments, but i understand why he made them, and furthermore the NA will do as it feels is best.
many in the coalition, especially musharaaf, are concerned about continued fighting among the tribes once kabul falls. musharaaf is concerned that fighting could spill into pakistan and threaten his regime (not to mention their nukes). he would rather there be some type of government ready to replace the taliban before kabul falls that is representative of all the tribes.
bush is supporting musharaaf who has taken significant political risk to support us. i am not terribly upset because franks continues the bombing and the NA will do as they see fit

alliance commanders appeared to be chafing at the bit Is it my imagination, or are metaphors being mixed here? A mixed metaphor always sticks in my claw.
You are correct sir. The proper metaphor would be chomping at the bit. 'Chafing at the bit' conjurs up images of horses in dire need of chapstick.
Come to think of it, 'chafing' may very well be appropriate for Afghanistan.
To: mlocher
Frankly, your statement is ignorant. It reveals a complete cluelessness concerning the U.S.'s interests in this region. It will do us no good to leave Afghanistan in a power-vacuum, which will quickly be filled by jerk-offs just as bad, just as ruthless and just as anti-American as the Taliban.
And that, in turn, will leave Afghanistan a fertile ground for continuing terrorist operations. Such corrupt governments as typically ensconce themselves in places like Afghanistan or Lebanon don't care who their "friends" are as long as they bring cash.
That's how al-Qaeda ended up there in the first place. Pay attention.

My guess is the U.N. will take over. That wouldn't be my first choice, of course, but as long as the country isn't being run by those who think people like bin Laden are heroes.

Mr bin Laden warned the US-led coalition that he would never allow himself to be captured alive. "America can't get me alive," he told a Pakistani interviewer. We don't want you alive S4!Tbag, dead will be just fine.
