I admire Mr. Robinson for his willingness to provide a conservative forum. Sadly, this forum does little to diminish the impacts of the issues to which freepers respond.
Do we intend to simply continue to satisfy our need to express our outrage by useless postings? At what point do we direct this common spirit into political (and non-violent) activism? I envision a future post that says Hillary provides nukes to Bin Laden and the Freeper response would be limited to posting a thousand I-Hate-Hillary posts. What is our threshold, if not the current events? What will it take to get us organized into productive action?
For example, the threads accurately suggesting that Clinton was treasonous seem to indicate that there is a general belief in gross, criminal wrongdoing and crimes against the state. But if we believe that, why are we content with only posting? Yes, we all agree about the issue, but isnt Clinton lucky to have critics who conduct their responses to crime by complaining in cyber space?
I like Bush, but I remain angry with him and with Ashcroft for not directly pursuing these Clintons. As a result, Bush has perpetuated the Clinton damage that the whole world sees. Such completely awful Clintonian behavior has not only gone unpunished, it has been rewarded by the United States. Bush was elected to restore dignity and to clean up. He has not exhibited signs of acting against those who soiled the nation the Clintons. Why?
Now we must come together to demand Bush acknowledge the mandate to move against the Clintons. America seeks an assessment of blame, and the Clintons, in their arrogance, have provided an obvious solution. Recent incidents have raised the public perception (and disgust) about Clintonian evil.
Bill, as a former war protesting draft dodger and former Commander-in Chief, publicly blames America for terror inflicted upon it. Hillary, as senator of the state where terror struck, when greeted by a crowd that she was unable to hand-pick and control, is nationally booed by the people that allegedly voted for her, exposing that the true public despises her. Chelsea, as a brainwashed idiot, has been recently exposed as both a fool and a liar.
Public awareness of Clintonian evil is growing. At a minimum, Clintons should all be stripped of pension and protection based on their anti-Americanism. At a midpoint, they should be imprisoned for civil and criminal acts. At full measure , the Clinton clan should be tried, convicted, and punished as traitors.
Jim, it is your forum, and you have a huge and growing following. You have achieved recognition on almost all conservative news outlets. Can you somehow develop an effective action committee? Isnt our collective inaction tantamount to tacit approval, or is it something far worse?
I agree with your premise but think it's just too big. And I'd love to "lead" such an effort but have too many family responsibilities and besides, I'm so cyber-impaired, I'd be little help.
There are a number of things that have been going on forever on FR, for example, the DC chapter of FR just FReeped hill & bill and do so on a regular basis. Anytime bill or hill goes anywhere in the country, they get FReeped.
A number of people write and call congressmen, etc. on a regular basis.
backhoe has an extensive collection of links to the clinton crimes. AlamoGirl has written the Downside Legacy. Mudboy Slim has a running thread, Black III in which he writes funny words to songs and professes to never let the clinton issue rest. I think he's also trying to organize another March for Liberty which could be another big FReep. These are just a few of the treasures I've found during my short time on FR and I know I've left many, many out.
I would suggest that we start small. For example, on 09-06-01, the committee on Government Reform issued a subpoena to the DOJ to turn over a number of documents related to the clinton crimes by 09-11-01. Of course, that was delayed due to the events of 9-11. Suppose someone organized a freep (letter writing, calling) of the DOJ to occur all on one day? I don't know how the recent Bush EO affects the turnover of those documents but I'm using this as an example of how to use one event at a time to draw attention to the clinton crimes. I would think a big enough FReep would elicit a response and if not, we could do it again.
There's no doubt in my mind that we have some power as a group--it's been shown over and over. Just watch what happens when someone posts a "FReep this poll!" thread. I'm willing to bet that FReepers had something to do with the recent media bias thing coming to a head (CNN, ABC reminding that we are bombing "innocent civilians" in Afghanistan in response to the murder of 5000+ in America) and nothing was formally organized.
Anyway, my point is that every long journey starts with one small step.
P.S. If bubba keeps up with his treasonous speeches, there will be more than just FReepers calling for his head but something needs to be done with hitlery as well.
We lose sight too easily of how much the world has changed in 10 years-- a decade ago you could not have even located a hundredth of the material of the clintons' wrongdoing.... and even if you could have, how would you have communicated it? It was so hard back then!
Now, everything is different- you can use mass emails or faxes to instantly send a story ( or link ) to a nearly limitless number of people, papers, and officials. You don't even have to be much of a writer- just send a link & say, "read this!"
I've already plugged cyber-activism as a way to reach people & educate them, but there are other, powerful means of reaching people who may have never seen any of the reams of information about the former first family of corruption & crime:
1- local talk radio. Note "local...." These shows are easy to get on and reach a lot of people- drivers, the elderly, working guys who keep a radio on, etc.
2- letters to local or regional publications have more influence than you may realize. Just as some movements "start at the top and then filter down," some grassroots movements "start at the bottom and percolate up to the top."
Never forget- the news and the entertainment industries were both implicit and conplicit in the clintons' slithering into power- they were, 90% of 'em, determined to get him in office and keep him in office. Ditto Hillarrhea!©....
We faced an enormous uphill fight just trying to convince America that "the stories they were seeing on TV were only the tip of a vast iceberg of corruption floating in a sea of sleaze."
Excellent, excellent! That's the spirit! Just prior to the election mess, for some strange reason the ACU kept sending me copies of this:
-Hillary Clinton-What America Needs to Know--
( and you can still buy it singly, or in bulk, or read online )-- well, first I gave copies to all the local libraries... ran out of them, started going around to nursing homes, doctor's offices; anyplace with a reading/waiting room, and left copies there.
Another thing you can do is hand over a copy to a friend, co-worker, relative, and tell them, "read this, and then I want you to give it to somebody else, and tell them, 'pass this on...'"
Think of it as Informational Guerilla Warfare....
I despised the clintons and everything they stood for long before I discovered FR but what I've learned since simply boggles my mind!
You have made excellent points on starting at the local level:
Just as some movements "start at the top and then filter down," some grassroots movements "start at the bottom and percolate up to the top."
My favorite word: Grassroots. I don't have much free time to devote to politics like I would like. So during the Bush-algore election and the recent Virginia gubernatorial election, I wore buttons everywhere I went. Those buttons generated many, many one-on-one conversations; I got the opportunity to attempt to educate these people and I know a few people changed their minds about whom they were going to vote.
Bumper stickers are another good grassroots effort. There are tons of talented FReepers who could come up with a catchy bumper sticker/button phrase and design that could be used as a FR national campaign. With JimRob's permission, FR's addy could be added to bumper stickers and buttons bringing more people to see the light. (BTW, it was learning about FR that caused me to finally get off my dead butt and get on the internet.)
Never forget- the news and the entertainment industries were both implicit and conplicit in the clintons' slithering into power- they were, 90% of 'em, determined to get him in office and keep him in office. Ditto Hillarrhea!©....
True, true and they may be the most difficult to change. However, didn't Whoraldo say just yesterday that clinton was a liar and an adulterer and admitted to being complicit in covering for him? If some of them can be enlightened one at a time...one at a time...then, when they find out how complicit the clinton's were in 9-11...who knows what can happen??
Where ya been, bobono?! How many FReeps have ya been to? How often do you participate in E-FReep Campaigns? Are you a Member in the Tyranny Response Team? Your State FReeper Chapter? There are plenty of us out here trying to accomplish exactly what you're chiding us to do, and we still find the time to contribute to the 1000 "I Hate Hillary" posts!!
I like yer spunk, kid, but Angelwood and Kristinn and Ironman and Sauropod and Doctor Raoul and many, many others have been on the front lines of this Jihad Fer Justice since '96 and before!! Congressman Bob Barr said himself that without FreeRepublic.com, Der SchleekMeister wouldda never been Impeached the first time around!!
And believe you me, there ain't a doubt in my mind that WE SHALL BE SUCCESSFUL in our ongoing effort to...
RE-IMPEACH. CONVICT. DETHRONE. DISBAR. DE-PENSION. INDICT. CONVICT. IMPRISON. DISCARD KEY!!
Welcome aboard...MUD
BTW...
"Jim, it is your forum, and you have a huge and growing following. You have achieved recognition on almost all conservative news outlets. Can you somehow develop an effective action committee? "
LOL...you don't seem to understand FreeRepublic.com at all, my FRiend. The beauty of the Forum is that we don't need JimRob to do anything of the sort...we initiate these actions ourselves and JimRob endorses them if he feels the urge. You wanna develop and Action Committee to bring the EX-Traitor-in-Chief to Justice...well, count me in!!
Yes, indeed- you can't change the world, but you can win people over, one at a time. And they can win others over, and so on--
Buttons are a very good idea... ChaseR suggests business cards, and using the Panama Canal as a wedge issue, because it's not too politically charged, like clinton is.
The biggest handicap to learning the truth is the fact that most Americans will not take a story or news item seriously unless they see & hear it every single day for about a week running. It has to be repeated again & again on TV, the radio, and in the headlines until it breaks thru the static background noise of "all the other stuff" going on in their lives. Television has compounded the problem by encouraging short attention spans.
LOL, how true. and Carter is a commy symp fool, but an honest one.
backhoe says on Dubob #9, (#124): Consider recruiting new members to Free Republic...
Mudboy Slim says (#73): Congressman Bob Barr said himself that withoug FreeRepublic.com Der SchleekMeister wouldda never been impeached the first time around!!
Don't underestimate the power of yakking, especially here on FR. I turned a friend on to FR, now he can't sleep at night from what he's learned...LOL! IOW, people are learning the truth and the truth is making them mad!!
I think the power of FR was illustrated the other night at the end of the speech Bush gave in Atlanta. "Let's Roll" became a FR "battle cry" immediately after 9-11. I haven't seen it used anywhere else. When I heard Bush say, "Let's Roll", my first thought was that he's been reading FR!
I have read others here who say President Bush became aware of Free Republic when he was back in Austin, and the he reads ( or did when he was less busy! ) the Breaking News section every day.
As far back as the election mess, I recall TV talking heads who used the exact same words to introduce news items that had previously been on FR, leading me to think they were lurking here regularly and "borrowing" our copy.
Yep...and I've found another useful and effective way to spread the word is to FReep a good thread with plenty of yer own views, then copy/paste the "http:address" to any number of folks in yer realm of influence. You'll find two positive things happen...first, some folks will respond via email and you can discuss the particular issue in more depth and possibly change their mind if they don't already agree with you, and second, all those folks you emailed the thread to will have direct access to FR as Lurkers. As you continue to send them applicable threads, eventually a number of them will register as FReepers and you will have then accomplished something of significance for both them--individually--and the Country!!
It's ALL About Winning The Battle For the Hearts and Minds of the American Sheeple!!
FReegards...MUD
If our government can't gives us Osama bin Laden then at least give us Clinton who should not be as hard to find!
