Coronado Bridge makes a lot of sense. Take that down, and you trap the Pacific Fleet (whatever is left in port) at their docks.

Ahhhh...so now we have details for the reports this morning that Navy Seals were guarding the base in San Diego. It's all starting to make sense now.

Yup--I've been annoyed with that for years...idiotic Clinton Navy parking all those ships there. Another "Pearl" in the making.

Thanks for the answer - I was just wondering that. I've only been to San Diego once but remember this bridge, and its logistics, vividly. I certainly hope these attacks will be thwarted!

Coronado bridge was designed to be easily moved if it falls down in an eathquake -

Does the Coronado Bridge really cut off the fleet? I sure hope were aren't that naive. They better get those ships out to the open sea NOW!

Probably not. That channel is pretty deep. Besides there are a lot of dredges sitting there that could clear quickly. There used to be a story floating around that in case of harbor blockage, they would blow out a section of the Silver Strand to clear a passage. The explosives are supposedly already buried in place.

if you Click here You should be able to see that the Coronado bridge is on the south of the Naval base and collapsing it would NOT trap the Pacific fleet ... or any Navy vessel.
