TERRORISTS TARGET CA BRIDGES!
KFBK Radio | 11-1-01 | self

Talk show host Tom Sullivan just reported that during a press conference Gov. Davis said he was notified that there is evidence that terrorists plan to target the Coronado Bridge (San Diego), the Golden Gate & Bay Bridges (San Francisco) and an LA Bridge (didn't catch the name) tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 2nd.

Agreed, any disruption to shipping would be brief. This is more of a concern with a Chinese attack and rapid naval sortie, not the terrorists.

6 people from where I work are going to S.F. tomorrow and will cross the bay bridge. I have told them NOT to go during rush hour. 2 are going over the bridge around 11 am and 4 will go about 7pm. I think that if they stay away from rush hour they will be ok.... thoughts? I asked my boss who is in San Francisco if she sees any problem and she said no. If there is ANYONE out there with any real information about this please tell me so I can tell them not to go. (IT is a training thing that they all paid bucks to go to). Thanks.

Overpasses...that would do the trick. I live in Santa Clarita and work near the People's Republic of Santa Monica; hence I was one of some 50,000 daily commuters who were totally hosed when the 1994 Northridge quake took down the interchange in the Newhall Pass.

Nothing got in or out, except cops and firemen via helicopter for a few days; that is, unless you wanted to drive 80 miles northeast, 20 south, and then 80 back west.

It sucked. If Achmed does that number, I'm personally gonna get his number. Leaving home at 3am to get 30 miles by 8am really sucks, and somebody's gonna pay if I have to do it again.

Oil tankers from the middle east go under the Golden Gate all the time.

All commercial traffic must give 96 hours notice that they are coming into port. They are meet at the sea buoy (the twelve mile mark) and along with the Port Pilot two armed Coasties board. They inspect the papers and the crew and protect the pilot whilst he brings the ship under the Gate.

I'm sure Savage is right (he's still a loony, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day).

Davis is typical of Democrats who look for political advantage regardless of principle.

But will he be chastised for it? Of course not.

(If this has already been mentioned, forgive me. When I checked back here, there were 400+ replies on this thread, and I'm in a bit of a rush.)

Here's the link:

Anthrax Letter From St. Petersburg Contains Reference to OKC Bombing

And here's the quote:

The cryptic letter misspelled Troxler's name and had little punctuation. It said:

"Howard Toxler ... 1st case of disease now blow away this dust so you see how the real thing flys. OKLAHOMA-RYDER TRUCK! Skyway bridge-18 wheels." [Oklahoma-Ryder Truck capitalized for emphasis by FR poster, original version did not use capital letters]

Again, forgive me if someone has already posted this. I thought it was important. Now I'll read the rest of the thread. ;o}

It's all about him, him, him.

That's exactly right. As far as the "non-him" stuff he talks about, well, it might be all well and good.

But I couldn't take the continual bloviating about how "New York media" is out to get him. Unlike Rush, there is no sign that he is kidding. He's serious. The rays are getting through the tin foil.

Please note that my comment was directed in general to the near-uselessness of things "overheard" on some local talk show. There's no context. Maybe the guy is ultra-reliable. But who knows?

In this case, yes, I heard it on the evening news and it seems to be turning (we can only hope) into a debacle for Gray Davis.

I believe that November 2nd is the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, which opened the way for a Jewish homeland.

Someone was already living there though.

I think that all of the oil tankers coming into the Bay are from Alaska.
