Anyone interested in this issue might want to take a look at The Myth of Heterosexual Aids by Michael Fumento, published by Regnery Gateway in 1993. Though a bit dated, the book makes a persuasive case that heterosexual aids is extremely rare. The book presciently predicted the leveling off of AIDs by the year 2000.

The two best explanations in this thread for the prevalence of AIDS in Africa are (1) widespread untreated STDs and (2) anal sex as a method of birth control. But denying the reality of the African AIDS epidemic is like denying the Holocaust, which I know some of you also want to do. It just doesn't fit the facts.

Moreover, in the UK, this has to be seen against a back ground of the highest incidents of unwanted teenage pregnancies and massively increased number of teenage STD’s in Europe but still there is no, repeat no, 'AIDS' epidemic in the UK in 20 years; why not?

But on a more serious note, I remember militant gay activists (who've never been too far removed from 'mainstream' gay activists) saying in the '80s that THEY WANTED THIS TO BECOME a heterosexual epidemic as well, even to the point of encouraging those already infected to spread HIV around by introducing their body fluids into food prepared/served in restaurants, urinating on public restroom toilet seats and faucets, etc. In other words, engage in the kind of terrorist mischief that we are seeing now with anthrax.

The 'I'm a victim, and I'm miserable, and therefore, others DESERVE to be made miserable, too' mentality has gone so far within the gay community, that now it has become 'trendy' in some circles to WILLINGLY infect your partner or willingly BECOME INFECTED. This is thought to be an 'empowering act' that will unite gays behind that elusive 'common political cause' concept. I think the theory is supposed to work this way: 'If as many people (gay, bi-, straight) become infected as possible, just think of the barriers of intolerance and hate that will come down! As far as the "heterosexual" AIDS in Africa, what we've been told is probably not as true as the activists would have us believe. Bisexuality is far more prevalent in Africa than is generally reported. So is prostitution in a region poor in antibiotics. The real avenues of sexual entry for AIDS into the "heterosexual" population are other venereal diseases and bisexual men.

Anal sex is used for birthcontrol in 3rd world countries..also filthy contaminated needles are used because of the poverty..lots of prostitution there too..many reasons for the spread in women there..and not here
