Just reported on Imus in the Morning. A man was arrested at an airport (I didn't catch which one, maybe Pittsburg) with a box cutter hidden in his lap top computer.
The man had an expired student visa.

How many people carry box cutters onto planes?
I believe the animal is just as guilty as those that attacked the WTC and the Pentagon. There should be no mercy. Let's get what information we can and them give him a slow and painful torturous death. This is after he's had a nice dinner of BBQ pork forced down his throat.

Box cutters issued to all tangos were purchased in bulk quantities to save money. Knives were not included in the purchase order.... ];-(

There are FBI agents at at least two universities that were mentioned earlier in the thread. Call your local college and ask if anyone has checked.

Which means the x-ray operator did not see it. HELLO?!?!Not necessarily. There has been a great deal of suspicion that boxcutters were PLANTED aboard some of the hijacked planes, in the seat cushions. One of the grounded flights, in Canada, was found to have boxcutters in the overhead compartments when the plane was checked prior to being allowed to fly again.
This person may not have HAD the boxcutter at the x-ray station, but may have been passed one between the x-rays and the gate. Janitor, restaurant employee, security person, ground crew; someone with clearance who is not subjected to the same scrutiny as the passengers but is in a position to do even more damage. I'd be looking very hard at airport employees.

I'm surprised that they found it.
This weekend I talked to two people who flew out of the Bay Area (SF, Ca) down to southern Ca. for meetings!
One was a young male from the SW with a Tex/Okie accent that could be spread with a butter knife. He is 6'3", blond, very fair skinned and very blue eyes. His carry on bag had all types of electronic gear, laptops, Palm Pilots, and other gear, as he flew down to make a sales presentation. The bag went through with a simple open and look through. However, the female so called security person, with a south of America accent must have been horny as she did basically a full body check twice on him, until he called over a supervisor. The whole process with the waiting in line took close to three hours. He decided to rent a car and drive back to the Bay area. His bag had a standard and a minature screwdriver set, and those were ignored.
The woman is a dark haired, olive complexion lady who is a Master English teacher. Her English is impeccable with zero accent! She had a male security person. He went through her carry own and took out her underwear several times. She joke yesterday that he was getting glassy eyed. He did one pat down, and when he tried another one, she called over the supervisor and lodged a complaint. He apologized and passed her on through. She has been flying that flight once a week for over 3 years. She was born in the states. She called up the air line HO when she got back to complain. She said that she was born in this country as 5th genderation American, had lived in the same home for over 25 years, taught in the same school system for 30 years, had impeccable English with no accent, and that their computers should be able to identify her as a regular. She said that several people went past security and could barely speak English while she was getting jacked around!

Agreed. I want EVERYONE who is here illegally sent back home immediately.
You can't do that, then who would vote for the Democrats?

I have a laptop--I won't say which--that is designed to be quickly opened to swap hard drives and batteries. It is also filled with metal pieces, long and short. It would take no trouble at all to wedge a simple boxcutter in there and still have a working laptop.
My point in all this is that soon laptops will face banishment from the passenger compartment of commercial airliners.

But please, everybody, don't let this incident confuse you. Remember what the New York Times and the liberals are telling us is the most important lesson in all these events: Islam is a peaceful religion.

I emphatically agree...as a resident of a university community with a restaurant named "Kabul", and a HIGH middle eastern population, if the estimate of 10% US Muslims being Islamic extremists is correct, we could have a real problem here...the trouble is, everyone sits on these boards and says "we have to DO something about this" but nothing IS done, and tension, mistrust, and anger keep increasing...

It was RaceBannon who is a very solid poster. HE called the FBI at the strong encouragement of other posters. The FBI was polite and took all the information down, including Race's phone number and address.

Not all guys who show up late for stuff are terrorists. If some of us didn't show up late, the rest of you wouldn't have time to wake up and get your coffee and donuts. Do you read Dilbert? I love all the non-human workers. Right now they have a troll working there.
Seriously, Al Quaeda sent their best pilots trained in the US on suicide missions. They had some planes in Afghan but "oops, our best pilots committed suicide." Evil is not perfect.

I don't understand why this isn't turning out to be a bigger story. In my opinion, this is bigger than the neverending anthrax story. I mean, this is after all how they pulled off the first hijacking. If I were planning to get on a plane I certainly would want to know this little piece of IMPORTANT information.

Everyone wants to be famous. Not a very good way to achieve it but different ways for everyone. His next stop should be a nice cell with some friendly street thugs. When he needs a diaper deport him.

Personally I think the FBI should begin by going into every college and checking "student visas". That sounds easy enough, but the ones with expired visas are probably no longer at the college. If they are no longer there, many probably have changed their identities, addresses, etc. ...
Muh. Atta, for one, claimed to be enrolled at a Catholic University to get his student visa. He never went (of course), nobody checked up, and he disappeared into the woodwork. Therein lies the problem: once in, you can vanish without ever setting foot on a campus. Ergo: while I would certainly raid the campuses of the outspoken radicals (and professors), that's not where the Real Problem 'Students' are hanging out.

Since half of them are probably Mexican illegals alot of good that will do. Half the population of Ca. will disappear if the illegals ever leave.

Jeez . . . what a mess. I based my comment on what a friend told me about the once, twice and thriceover her laptop received at Reagan National Airport near DC.
Of course, any moron who tries to hijack a plane with a boxcutter now is going to get torn limb from limb by the passengers.

There was a thread on Free Republic on Saturday, from a Freeper who had gone to an anti-war protest. I wish I could remember who posted it, maybe somebody else did. She was creeped out because somebody came over to her and warned her about something happening on the 29th. She informed the police, but her warning was dismissed. Hey, Racebannon, yer an awfully cute chick, sweedums. Mind modelling something soft and frilly for us? Can I call you RACEYbannon now? (a&&cheek pinch)
;^)
