For anyone who's interested, visit:

http://www.virtualrosary.org/

The Virtual Rosary is a wonderful program that allows you to pray the Rosary on your computer or your Palm Pilot.

After communion they headed straight for the door, not sticking around for the rest of the service.

When I was just a wee hatchling, I noticed such behaviour one Sunday. My father observed that Judas Iscariot was the first man to leave Mass early. He added that he wasn't necessarily equating these people to Judas, but that leaving Mass early certainly doesn't put one in good company. I stay until the recessional is sung. If the organist starts playing Bach or something after, I'll stay for the free concert.

I wonder if you can answer another question: If I want to ask about a personal crisis in practicing my faith, should I ask a kindred spirit in the Caucus, ask it in general at the end of the thread, or see my priest? Grin...

Since you asked... do none of the above.

Keep it to yourself.

No cheap conflicting advice, and no Hail Mary's.

Having the guts (or grace) to remain interested in the Church after a touch of RCIA is quite impressive! I have a friend who wished to convert and was sent to an RCIA program in NY run by a nunnie in her 50s (a bad generation for nuns). Sister Snowflake and the group sat around and held hands and gazed at a candle once a week. Doctrine was entirely absent and when my friend raised a question, she was told it was not important "anymore." I guess Sister had received a private revelation to that effect. IN any case, the class of ten dwindled rapidly; by the third week, it was down to a mentally handicapped man and a woman with a severe drinking problem who probably just got lost on her way to AA and didn't realize it - and my friend. She didn't come back for the fourth week, and fortunately, because she lived in New York, was able to go and get good, intelligent instruction from an orthodox priest at St. Agnes Church. I hope the other folks who fled the RCIA class were also able to do something like this. It's amazing - we do virtually no outreach, no proselytism, and people come to us anyway - and then we drive them away by giving them empty or even misleading and insultingly stupid "instruction." So many wolves within, so many sheep without (Teresa of Avila).

Rochester, NY, Freeper Catholic lurker (no longer, I guess!) here, jumping in to join the Caucus! I came back home a few years back and got my kids squared away with the Sacrements. It sure feels great to be back home!

But I haven't become accustomed to the t-shirts, shorts and thongs worn by others yet. And the leaving after communion bugs me too.

I recommend continuing to be unaccustomed and bugged.

Thongs? I hope you mean the footwear...

I was asked the same question by my priest when I went to my first confession in 25 years. I stopped going to church reqularly and drifted away. He kept on calling to me and His calls finally got through my thick skull!

Thanks for asking Aquinasfan (as in Little Irish?)!

I don't move, but then again, I'm 6'2" would be hard to move me, LOL

If I were you, I would put my kneeler down on the floor and stay put and inform them that it's disrespectful to God to leave in the middle of a prayer. Sooner or later they will get the hint and stay in their pew until the end or they will sit in another pew.

You may want to have your pastor to put a request in the Church bulletin to remind them of their indiscretion .

Rochester: welcome home.
I came back about 3 years ago after drifting along for 16.

I'm now teaching RCIC to 9 high schoolers without a clue. Please send prayers.
3 of these kids aren't baptised, they all will be making 1st Confession, 1st Communion
and the Bishop wants them all Confirmed this year.
I have grave reservations about the Confirmation part especially considering that these
young adults have NO prior religious forming and rarely attend weekly Mass even now.
I don't understand the push to Confirm these young adults.
We don't need more nominal Catholics.

Sorry about the whining - my prayer list gets longer every day.

My sister-in-law asked my wife, after her son informed her that he wanted to take Satan as his confirmation name (yes, he is this crazy), "Do you think he should be confirmed this year?"

I didn't know there was a St. Satan.
