If you have a baby on the way, bought a new car or house, found out your kid aced his SAT, are having a good harvest, caught an excellent fish, or have some other happy news please post it. I am so depressed and sad for my country, and I don't know ANYONE in person who has had anything nice happen in the last month. Not one person.

Small pleasure, same vein as stock market gains...
As of today, shamelessly shopping stores sales, my freezer is full of meat for the winter, all my favorite cuts, all bought on the cheap, a vertible cornicopia for one who loves to cook as I do... Aside from the fresh turkey for Thanksgiving, it's all there.
I've engineered several successful financial ventures, but none yet has given me the same, intrinsic pleasure that *lining one's nest* does... *wiggling bottom... fluff-fluff-fluff... *cluck-cluck-cluck*... hehehe...

I have EXCELLENT news! My husband and I have been trying to adopt a baby boy from Korea since February. He was supposed to come home in May at 3 1/2 months old and a new government official put our case under review . It was doubtful if he would EVER be allowed to come home to us. So many people were praying for us and our situation.
We just found out on Tuesday that this man agreed to release our son to us. We are BEYOND ecstatic. This is truly a miracle..we came SO CLOSE to losing him forever. He will be our first child. For those of you who have never adopted a child, it is amazing how your heart can be so full of love for a child you have never held and how a tiny photo can captivate your soul.
Pleasde consider adoption...it is a wonderful way to build a family. We will be flying to Korea to bring him home. We are not afaid to fly but, then again, at this point we would be willing to SWIM to Korea to bring our baby home. He will be 9 months old on Thursday!

LOL at Captain Underpants! My 9 year old son had a Book Talk today (summarize a book you've read and give a little speech on it)and he did one of the Captain Underpants books. HE DRESSED UP as Captain Underpants to give the Book talk! He had to borrow an adult neighbor's WHITE BRIEFS, made a red cape, and was crushed when teacher said he couldn't take his shirt off! (He did, however, put the adult briefs on over his pants, thank heaven!).
When he came home, he wrote a thank you note to our neighbor for letting him borrow his underwear . . . .my DH only wears boxers and that just wouldn't do . . . .
Can you imagine opening your front door and having the neighbor kid asking for a pair of your underwear??? Thank heaven our neighbors are good friends as well!
That's my giggle for the day.
P.S. When he asked to borrow the briefs, he actually asked for a CLEAN pair . . . hee hee hee hee hee

Re your post #165 -- Actually, he has had a glass of wine on special holidays. And, maybe even a Bourbon & 7 once or twice ayear. But, that's IT. Seriously. He is NOT a drinker. Nor a smoker.
What also saved him was this, if you really want to know: As a young man, he was a tennis player. The doctors said that because he was such an avid tennis player, he was able to live through the heart attack he had, when others would have died. Anyone for tennis? :)

The high school colorguard I teach is continuing their winning tradition - this will be their 4th straight undefeated marching season!
Northwest Colorguard for more info. My family is healthy and happy and tonite my youngest daughter (age 21) recolored her purple hair to a normal color!!!! I have warned her about hanging around her friend in beauty school too much but she didn't listen!

My Dear ofMagog:
Your message was garbled.
Believe you said: "The Arenal Volcano is beautiful and Bait is belching loudly."
How nice!
May I be the very first to wish you a Happy Unbirthday??
(psssst - the crew is getting restless and needs shore leave - SOON! - especially Fred Mertz)

Oh, you all have blessed me so much. It was good that I didn't spend the evening looking at bad news. I did a little calculus, watched the missionaries teach my son (whose perfect memory STILL amazes me!) and took a hot bath.
I hope this helped others as much as it helped me. What a wonderful, wonderful world it is that has FReepers in it!
