I do not know whether this has been posted here through another source or is being pulled in threads or not. But through military sources and a private document I saw with my own eyes 2 names have been listed as the leak to the Washington Post. p> Sen. Orrin Hatch Republican from Utah and Senator Diane Feinstein Democrat from California. If this is pulled I will understand. This source is 100% accurate. I am currently writing a piece on our national security at this current time for one of the papers I write for. This is bound to come out soon. So I figured I would post this here first.

IIRC it was a confidential briefing, from which some of the skinny was offered to Bob Woodward at the Post - whereupon he checked with the WH, and didn't publish it. AFAIK the only thing to "surface" from the briefing was the "retaliation is 100% certain after we bomb the Afghans" thing. That's knd of a "DOH!" thing...

"I can't imagine Hatch would screw this pooch twice."Have you seen his FBI files?
To: TrueBeliever9
That applies to most politicians from all spectrums. They pass laws that exclude them, give themselves hugh pay raises and us hugh taxes. Need I say more? I have a healthy scepticism when it comes to a man or woman seeking power.

This is purely for conversational purposes, and not pointing fingers, but an editor's job really shouldn't consist of correcting grammar and the like. (I say "shouldn't" because editors generally do wind up doing things like that, although that really isn't their job.) An editor's purpose is to make sure the article is consistent with their style practices, sources are checked and accurate, and that the article fits into their alloted space. If any of these requirements are not met, an editor sends it back to the journalist for the appropriate corrections.
The only time an editor has to do the work himself (or herself) is when the writer cannot be located before the deadline. If a writer's work is always below par, grammatically and so forth, that reporter generally doesn't last very long. ;-}

There was a thread yesterday posted by someone else "in the know" with "friends in high places" and that person swore up & down it was McCain. That was innocentbystander in this thread. This freeper has a very good reputation here, and I believe he does have some personal connections. However the Washington Compost, I am given to understand, has since said the leaker was on the Senate Intelligence Committee, so that would seem to eliminate McAinal.

I can't wait until the morons around me vote her out of office. You're going to have to. Wasn't she just reelected?
She is the biggest thorn in Californian's side!
That's a tough one to call. There are so many candidates for that position.
I vote for taking away her guns and making her walk from one end of Maxine Waters' district to the other on a Friday night.

The WashPost spiked another story after talking to the WH. That's the leak under question.
We don't know the subject. Then why bleat about the appropriateness of the leak?

If it was Feinstein, we'd best not forget about this in next year's reelection effort. What does the next election have to do with Feinstein? She's a senator and senators get six year terms.

Fair enough.
I am just trying to catch up to this and figure out what it might be all about actually - am deep into pakistani and indonesian politics and not quite up to what is going on on the hill.

That was whacked. Still don't know what was going on tonight with that. Neighbour said it was an F-16. He is a retired pilot. He was outside when it was happening. Weird.

He was more convincing. Somebody said Hatch was reelected last year. I know Feinstein was reelected last year. Five years is a long time. This whole event will be long forgotten by then. They're safe. If you wanted to pick to fall guys to cover for McCain, they're probably the best choices.

Oron Hatch? What a maroon...that idiot should be shot outta the saddle in his next primary!
To: Stultis
Innocent bystander does have a good reputation here--not disputing that. The arguments for McCain are compelling. Orinn Hatch has already been called on the carpet, so we know he is not above leaking. Feinstein has also been known to flap her gums.
Leaking is not new. Reagan had a problem with it. Bubba didn't because, as we all know, the leakers were charter memebers of the VRWC (said with pride!).
FWIW, Joe Biden was on FOX last night. He was an angry man. Said the source of the leak should be censured (if it was, in fact, a senator). Narrows the field---the leaker must be GOP and Biden knows who it is------otherwise he would not be calling for censure (Unless of course, it was him trying to divert attention).
[In my dreams, it is ms. bubba and soon she is exposed to the world as the self-serving, power hungry witch that she is.]
