GMA Addresses Rush's Hearing
Good Morning America
Posted on 10/09/2001 4:51:18 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest
Good Morning America just finished airing a piece on Rush's hearing problems.
Diane Sawyer was the presenter, and she was generally sympathetic.
A couple of discordant notes, however. First, of the numerous photos of Rush that were displayed, almost all were unflattering and out-of-date, showing the much heavier Rush of his pre-diet days.
Also, the ABC house physician, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, gave a rather unilluminating, cool analysis, and her only personal comment about Rush was unsympathetic. She said that in discussing the cause of his illness, he was being "cagey" and suggested that by not immediately revealing the cause, he was squandering an opportunity to help others.
By the way, she speculated that the cause, rather than anything exotic, was likely the long exposure to high volumes through headphones, or some kind of infection. She said that if the nerve has been damaged the hearing loss is irreversible, and added that even a cochlear implant could not restore normal hearing.

The lamestream media is overjoyed at this. Sawyer's "sympathy" wes only out of fear of the angry mail/calls/emails if she expressed her real opinion. Rush has made it clear what he thinks of ABCNNBCBS.

"The party of "feeling and compassion" are secretly glad that this is happening. They know that a voice of reason and truth will probably be gone." As well he should be.
It should concern you that the loudest voice for the conservative party is the kind of person who makes fun of people's appearance,
knowingly spreads vicious hateful rumors and jolts ecstatically as he plays "Shake Rattle & Roll" to make fun of someone's Parkinson disease...
That said, I wish him well on his Karmic journey (really).

From a neuroanatomical aspect, the No.1 cause of deafness minus other neural deficiets is cranial malignancy. I'm sure that Rush has had all the scans money can buy already. My wife and I where shooting around other possible etiologies last night prior to bed. The Good news is that Rush was complaining of voice changes that his listeners also had been commenting upon. This increases the liklehood of a cranial nerve disorder that is not usually life threatening, but none the less devistating. We are talking cranial nerve palsies here. None of this is good.

I believe they think that if Rush goes away we all will and things will return "the good old days" when they had no competition.

My mom has developed sarcoidosis; it started with her losing her voice. She has some kind of scarring tumor on a nerve that controls her vocal chords; they just don't work. They didn't find it until it effected her stomach, about 2 years later.
I'm no doctor either, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. ;-)

He said, 'No, I'm smiling at you because if I had a dime for every woman who's walked into my office in circumstances like this, I'd be a millionaire.'
Ehh, he was a millionaire.

Any mention of this from Katie or Matt? I wonder how big Katies smile was.I watched their show specifically for that reason. Katie mentioned the story would be coming up in the hour to follow. She had no comment, no reaction, she read it straight forwardly. Matt Lauer covered the story, and had no comment or reaction to it, either. It was almost as though their producer told them, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all...just do the piece.
I can't wait to see what the b****es on The View will have to say. The View--the show I love to hate! I find myself tuning in everyday to see what moronic thing they'll say next.

I'd rather preach the Gospel in Afghanistan than watch the morning pap. You are doing God's work sir, we salute you.

Actually, they did mention that Snyderman is an ear, nose and throat specialist. One more reason that I was disappointed by her superficial and unsympathetic treatment of Rush's situation.I watched the Rush segment on ABC's GMA this morning. Nancy Snyderman, whom I pegged as another screaming liberal several years ago (after all she lives in the Bay area), said she was returning to CA from NYC by car, shortly after the WTC tragedy, and listened to Rush. She said the one thing that left an impression on her was the fact his voice seemed to have changed, which, of course, leads one to the obvious conclusion that Nancy must have listened to Rush on other occasions.
There were several strings discussing this "voice change" issue here on FR over the last few weeks. Could it be Snyderman is a lurker as well ... maybe even a closet conservative?

(g) Shows that a close reading is worthwhile. Rush was the lone voice, the one who spoke for conservatism when a conservative thought he was the only one in the country! He gave us a voice, and now he can't "hear" it. But I am confident that he'll manage something. It won't be easy, because his problem will affect his voice. He'll need some voice coaches...

#6: "
I don't see enough of Sawyer to have detected any change. Her basic TV persona seems saccharine and smarmy to me. Ol' Charlie Gibson is a predictable liberal, but at least not filled with the venom of a Bryant Gumbel."
It's been so long since I've watched any of the emasculators of America, that if the advertisers who sponsor their leftist propaganda depended on me for revenue, they'd have gone broke a long time ago.

I recall a story here at FR at least a year or two ago regarding a child adopted by Dr. Nancy Snyderman, and the possibility it was BillyJeff's. I swear, I'm not making it up, and I refuse to wear tin foil (musses my hair)! Does anyone else remember this?

Why wouldn't Gibson be fed-up? He was called out of retirement to save their sorry morning ratings and a long-term dose of Diane Sawyer every morning would be enough to make one want to go back to bed.
Or maybe he's seen what a good time his old co-worker buddy Hume is having over at Fox and wishes he were there, too.

May you never suffer a malady that would cause people to say such hateful things about you.
Or, in your case, they probably already do.

Dr. Snyderman has world-class dimples, but little class otherwise. I don't know what's happened to her in the past few years. As she has climbed the TV ladder, she has lost the sparkle that made her a favorite on Bay Area TV. If you remember her from her medical reports on KPIX (S.F.) years ago and have seen her interviews on GMA of late -- particularly her nasty grilling of Anne Marie Smith lawyer Jim Robinson -- you know what I mean by that. Maybe it has something to do with her bitter divorce, which loomed large in her autobiography.
She and I have never met to my remembrance, but we definitely have crossed paths many times in my teen years, she being an ENT doc at UCSF, where I got my medical care (I was seen by another doctor, who was equally attractive -- hi, Janelle, wherever you are!).
For the record, Dr. Nancy was one of the guests in the Lincoln Bedroom during the Clinton drive for re-election cash. Maybe she's not fond of Rush for ideological reasons, or because he noted that she -- a network journalist -- was a Clinton/Gore contributor and a guest of the President.
