GMA Addresses Rush's Hearing
Good Morning America

Posted on 10/09/2001 4:51:18 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Good Morning America just finished airing a piece on Rush's hearing problems.

Diane Sawyer was the presenter, and she was generally sympathetic.

A couple of discordant notes, however. First, of the numerous photos of Rush that were displayed, almost all were unflattering and out-of-date, showing the much heavier Rush of his pre-diet days.

Also, the ABC house physician, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, gave a rather unilluminating, cool analysis, and her only personal comment about Rush was unsympathetic. She said that in discussing the cause of his illness, he was being "cagey" and suggested that by not immediately revealing the cause, he was squandering an opportunity to help others.

By the way, she speculated that the cause, rather than anything exotic, was likely the long exposure to high volumes through headphones, or some kind of infection. She said that if the nerve has been damaged the hearing loss is irreversible, and added that even a cochlear implant could not restore normal hearing.

Heard the I-man mention that he did not know Rush personnaly, but that he liked the guy a lot. I have listened and watched IMUS for years and think I have a pretty good feel for those times when he thinks there is more to a story than what is out in public. Just my observation.

Notice particularly last sentence in previous post:

"As noted in the February 27, 1997 CyberAlert, Snyderman was amongst the 831 people the Clinton administration listed as overnight White House guests during its first term.

Agreed, it really looked like they went out of their way to find the most unflattering photos of Rush. For that matter, it was simply bad journalism since the photos were clearly out of date. Rush has been trim for over a year now.

Isn't the internet great?! It's wonderful to be able to research things so quickly!

I respect your bravery! Thanks for the good "intelligence"! If we don't know what the "enemy" is up to, we can't fight them very well. So--carry on.

Rush is an incredibly important general in the Conservative cause and he has--I am convinced--helped his country win an incredible victory for freedom and justice by supporting first the candidacy and now the administration of George W. Bush. I thank God that President Bush is the CIC now--the thought of Gore or Clinton leading us in these times makes me shudder. And just as President Bush is engaged in a battle that he could never have imagined, so is Rush Limbaugh. I'm sure both often wonder if they're up to the fight--and sometimes wish they could flee from it. But the strength and courage they will show--because they are so eager to find and embrace it in others--will give us hope and encouragement. And--in the end--I believe both will achieve victory in their respective struggles. Maybe I'm being too much of an optomist--but so are Bush and Rush. Incurably so--so God Bless them! And you--behind the lines!

Exposure to noise doesn't lead to this type of rapid hearing loss. What garbage...but what do you expect from one of these medchix whose only goal is to avoid seeing real, live patients and instead get paid to chatter? One thing I haven't seen discussed is that IV antibiotics can cause this type of hearing loss. I'm sure that Rush, the innovator, who essentially was the Conduit of Conservatism in liberal times, will innovate a way to continue his radio show.

It's amazing how these networks stock their staffs with liberals, even in positions like medical experts that in theory have no political aspect. Of course that liberal bent undoubtedly enters in to her commentary on issues on the borderline between medicine and politics, such as smoking, gun injuries, etc.

This is a golden opportunity for the left to show off its hypocrisy for all the world to see (or, at least, for those who care to look). The lefties will mock Rush mercilessly, particularly if his diction grows worse with time as I suspect it will. The liberals hold themselves up as the champions of the disabled, disadvantaged, and the handicapped. But, since Rush is not only a conservative, but wealthy, he will not be afforded the same sympathy that the libs gratuitously bestow on the common folk. Oh, no. He will be the laughingstock of the left as, I'm sure, is already the case on DU(mp). I would drop in to see, but I just ate breakfast.

Thanks, Commander Miracle! I will soldier on. I have been surreptiously scanning the spectrums emanating from the NBC and CBS transmitters, but so far have nothing to report regarding their anti-Rush maneuvers!

the headphone possibility could or couldn't be real.

it is not uncommon for radio talent to suffer hearing loss due to headphones. Total is uncommon, but varying degrees of partial is very common. My guess is the rapid advancement would indicate that headphones aren't the cause.

I can't say I think to much of Imus as he shows a decidedly liberal bent once in a while. Leibermann suck up for one. Besides that, out of each hour you get 50 minutes of commercials and 10 minutes of Imus. I end up watching that other starting to go liberal C-Span.

Did they mention that Snyderman was an ENT Specialist? As an ENT specialist, SHE missed a wonderful oportunity to educate (as opposed to speculate).

Actually, they did mention that Snyderman is an ear, nose and throat specialist. One more reason that I was disappointed by her superficial and unsympathetic treatment of Rush's situation.

Now that I know she is a certified Friend of Bill, this all makes sense. By the way my continuing internet search shows her quoted as a "friend of the family" and making highly complimentary remarks about Chelsea.

I damn near started to flame you. When scrolling down, I glanced at the end of your post, and I thought it said Rush was the "Condit" of Conservatism.

The party of "feeling and compassion" are secretly glad that this is happening. They know that a voice of reason and truth will probably be gone.

I have no doubt that many liberals are gleeful at the news. Then again, I'm sure Rush himself is well aware of the glee in liberal ranks, and that is likely to provide motivation for him to keep soldiering on.
