Peaceniks Subdued in NYC
10/7/01

Forgive me if someone else has posted this info. I've not yet seen another after-action report on this afternoon's FReep of 'peace' protestors in Union Square park.
We had a small but dedicated group of about 75 FReepers & walk-ups counter-protesting the "Give Peace A Chance" group occupying Union Square park.
I arrived about 2:00 PM and the reception we received from passersby was electric! Horns were honking and we were given the 'thumbs up' sign by 2/3 of those who drove by.
Many took photos and I would like to think that our demonstration was the reason that the peaceniks moved their 'festivities' down the street about 4 blocks.
We could barely hear their inane and monotonous droning as we drowned them out with chants of: "Hey Osama, it's time we bombed ya!" Little did we know at the time that bombs were indeed dropping in Afghanistan.
The indomitable RaceBannon closed the FReep with a hearty 'three cheers' for the NYPD, which was well received by all.
All in all a great day for America.

I'm eating my heart out! Next time I take the wrath of my wife and in-laws, blow off my "previous engagement" and hop on the LIRR

The "average" American has had 30 years to squirm in shame for not supporting our troops in Viet Nam. In other words it would take an awful lot of busted heads to turn public opinion this time. You are the one who will be surprised this time.

I'm sure 99% of them just walked over to the demonstration from the East and West Village... Does anybody have any pictures?

Your ignorance is showing. When the students were shot at Kent State the country did not turn on a dime. The number of protesters in the entire country were only a miniscule fraction of the population. But, even back then the left wing media wh*res tried to make the liberals look like the majority and the conservatives look like the minority. That only works on idiots like you. Now go take some LSD and leave the rest of us alone.

I am not a peacenik, but neither am I a fool. You are both and you are also delusional. Now go the bed and cover up your head before the boogey man gets you!

What the hell are you talking about? Freeping peaceniks and other liberal scum is an honored American tradition.

I have to disagree with you, back in the 60's the peace nicks were ignored, in the end they won the war for the enemy. If they are ignored again the result will be the same.

The worms of ignorance are burrowing into your brain, LLAN-DDEUSANT.
It's much too easy for armchair know-it-alls like yourself to arrogantly assume they could have done a better job in any given situation.
Run for President, win, go thru a few dozen national crises, then post a reply.
I'm sure in your own mind YOU will have done it better than anyone else could have.
By the way, Reagan at his worst was far, far greater than you at your best.
I feel sad for anti-American, anti-Israeli fools like yourself.

I went to several freeps last November in Calif and there was only one dispute....for the most part we stick to our side and them to theirs. Not only that, in NYC ESPECIALLY, I would think we'd be out there as well represented as we could be...Blood? I dont' think so.
