Peaceniks Subdued in NYC
10/7/01
Posted on 10/07/2001 8:12:36 PM PDT by LisaFab
Forgive me if someone else has posted this info. I've not yet seen another after-action report on this afternoon's FReep of 'peace' protestors in Union Square park.
We had a small but dedicated group of about 75 FReepers & walk-ups counter-protesting the "Give Peace A Chance" group occupying Union Square park.
I arrived about 2:00 PM and the reception we received from passersby was electric! Horns were honking and we were given the 'thumbs up' sign by 2/3 of those who drove by.
Many took photos and I would like to think that our demonstration was the reason that the peaceniks moved their 'festivities' down the street about 4 blocks.
We could barely hear their inane and monotonous droning as we drowned them out with chants of: "Hey Osama, it's time we bombed ya!" Little did we know at the time that bombs were indeed dropping in Afghanistan.
The indomitable RaceBannon closed the FReep with a hearty 'three cheers' for the NYPD, which was well received by all.
All in all a great day for America.

Funny thing though - after they shot those bastards, there weren't anymore ROTC buildings getting burned!True. Act like savages and you will be treated as such. I also cannot believe these traitorous, leftwing fanatics would dare show their faces and spew their venom in NYC of all places. Well, some people will do anything to get on tv I suppose.

Don't be silly. You don't ignore 6000 deaths and pretend the perpetrators won't try it again. You've been fruitlessly whining on this forum since you got here and haven't succeeded in anything, yet you complain because other people are using their constitutional rights to protest alongside other people using their rights to protest?
You don't ignore fools and let them rule the streets, and let them trash up the country like they did in the 60s and 70s. You don't let those kind of people have their way and get more people killed.
You sound like you're the confused one.
As for the 60s radicals, they're not martyrs, they're pariahs. They are unknown, unloved, totally dishonored and morally bankrupt apologists for mass murder. (As will be the greens of today.) Many have come to the conclusion they were hopelessly wrong, and realized they were snookered by marxists all along, or for most, just blindly suckered in to the lifestyle because of their fear of being drafted. The rest are just fading away.

Explain yourself please if you can. Are you one of the peace-niks?? You are right? That has to be the reason why you make no sense at all.

Perception and reality. During the Viet Nam war, the public read in the newspapers and saw on the television ONLY anti-war demonstrations. Even if the overwhelming majority of the population started out being pro-war, the incessant news stories may have turned the tide on the home front, because the ubiquitous exposure given to the anti-war movemment created the perception that the movement was larger and stronger than it was in reality.
Admittedly, the networks can show or not show whatever they choose, but, given the current mood of the country, it is highly unlikely that they would ignore a pro-war demonstration. And this is why it is necessary for people to get out there and provide a counter demonstration against the anti-war faction.
These "anti-war" types are so used to getting their way and having exclusive face time whenever they do anything, the very idea that they would encounter a substantial grass-roots counter-demonstration has probably shaken them to their very Birkenstocks.
The mood of the country right now is very bellicose -- moreso than our leaders, I'm afraid -- so if the anti-war types are not permitted to monopolise the evening news, public opinion will continue to be pro-war, if only through inertia. And, since this is likely to be a very long war, we should do everything we can to nurture the necessary bellicosity and patriotism.
(As an aside, what on earth are you telling these people? Haiti? New Zealand? the south of France? Wassup wi' dat?!)

WELCOME!!! And I say that warmly as I to am a product from the left at one time. Then I had my first child and Clinton ran for President and that did it for me. It's something called "WOMEN'S INTUITION" when it comes to that guy and it definately told me something was just not right. The first time I voted for a Republican candidate for President was for President Bush, the senior, and I wasn't crazy about him but totally didn't trust clinton. So as 8 yrs went by my 2 sisters and my 81 yr old father are now voting republican and all 3 for the first time. hehehe Isn't it grand what clinton did? hehehe
